I had problems with Optimus draining the battery relatively quickly - for the reason you mentioned or some other, I cannot really tell - with the Clevo W110ER. The issue eventually got sorted out - well, more like on and off, in fact - after innumerable driver updates.

Haven't had the issue since going back to A11. (Will give it a couple more days before I call it stable.)

Finally added Dell U2713HM-IPS-LED. Its no 4k (still too soon for working class like me), but I'm more than satisfied with the 2.5k. Was going to get a pair of these, but wanted to be cautious and order one first with all the talk of backlight bleed etc.

Fact is, its not at all intrusive, and the white on the monitor is flawless. Alright, its not flawless (I'm overwhelmed) but the issues are so minor they're hardly worth mentioning. But for those that must know there's a slight halo around the very edges on a full white screen.

Even so, you have to be looking for imperfections and even then stare at it intently to notice. I give this display a 95%, and that certainly surpass my laptop's 90% display which was my model.

The Premiere Color is a perfect match with the laptop right out of the box. This is my first 27" and there's so much room I don't know what to do with it. No defects found so far. But I will be going over it with a fine tooth comb for the next several days. Great no dead pixel Dell guarantee!

Installed Windows 8.1, went through the hassle of installing the GPU drivers, and same old story :( Think I should try an older nVidia driver or something?

    Good evening folks,

Just getting ready to do some clean installs on my M6700. I've read through both this thread, and Bokeh's owners review, (all work and info people have contributed to this board is very appreciated by us newbies) and I'm a little confused (and apprehensive) on how I should configure my installs. My build is: 3740qm, K3000m, FHD (non-IPS), no USH or smart card, Win 7 pro in Legacy Boot mode.

It came with a 750gb 7200rpm (3.0gbs) HDD. I was going to use this as my data drive and put a fresh install of Win 8pro on my 180gb 520 series SSD, and use that as primary OS drive. Now I think I'll ditch the 750, and go with a 500gb Scorpio Black (6.0gbs) that I have, as the data drive. I still haven't decided whether I'll put a fresh install of Win 7 on the WD 500gb in the secondary bay, and Win 8 on the SSD, and dual boot that way, or partition the SSD and dual boot directly from it.

However I go about it, my worries are with switching the BIOS settings before install from the legacy boot, to UEFI. The system is currently in Legacy, and I've read about the issues of switching to UEFI, Secure boot, and disabling legacy option ROMS causing problems with the nVida card. In tDodd's post on page 240, he talks about the issued being rectified with an updated vBIOS. but my k3000 card has the older 80.04.5a.00.01, so I'm still a little unclear on how to proceed.

So can anyone confirm that everything should be okay with a 'Clean' Win 8pro install with UEFI, secure boot (enabled), Legacy Romm (disabled), on the SSD in primary Bay, and 'Clean' Win 7 pro install with same settings, on the 500gb HDD in the secondary bay. Will there be any issues with booting either up from the F12 boot options?

So to sum it up: Will Win 7 still boot up properly with secure boot enabled and legacy option ROMs disabled?

First: Windows 7 will not boot with secure boot enabled. That features requires Windows 8.

Second: Don't disable legacy option ROMs with the K3000M and the older vBIOS. You won't get a display, no matter what OS you have. (Unless you have Optimus enabled, in which case it will work fine.)

You can update the vBIOS and then you won't have to worry about trouble. I did it on my K5000M and I have updated vBIOS images for K3000M, K4000M, and K5000M, so I can post those if you can't find the one you need.
