You currently on Windows 7 or Windows 8? There's no 7 -> 8.1 upgrade path, unfortunately, you'd have to do a clean install or upgrade to 8.0 first. (Also note: Buying a new Windows 8.1 product key won't allow you to upgrade to Windows 8.0.)

I have one drive with 7 which is going to stay windows 7 and I have one drive with 8, I meant upgrading the Windows 8 drive to 8.1. I was going to do it, but after the reports of issues from owners, I'm less eager to upgrade to 8.1 on my main work computer.

That's because its impossible to get away from a Macbook comparison; the world of peripherals revolves around them. But its virtually an exact fit across the keyboard. If you want more precision, there's about 1/32" to spare.
The Precision's construction makes it a beast when it comes to sleeves so it will break right through them (the corners).

This was the third one I've purchased since I bought the laptop in February. Its also the cheapest. I have the LSS, but it doesn't seem to be available anymore.

In any event, this is exactly it only in 17", so it must be a generic product. It protects against stains and scratches, but I don't use it as a bump guard by itself. Its just too thin for that.

There have been some scary stories about the upgrade. :p
For me, once I got it to actually install, it's been fine.

They're following the service pack lifecycle for Windows 8.1, which means Windows 8 will only be supported for two years now that Windows 8.1 is out. Plenty of time to worry about compatibility issues, but have to move over sooner or later.

I'm downloading it right now and going to create an installer flash drive, so if I ever want to clean install it, I'll be able to. The nice thing about having all of your data on another drive is that you don't have to worry about loosing anything. I'm going to have to check how to change the skydrive folder location in 8.1 though, it is on my D drive shared by 7 and 8. Yeah, I got a strange setup. :p

SkyDrive lives on the D: drive for me as well. If you had SkyDrive set up on Windows 8 it will remember the folder location for Windows 8.1 when you upgrade.

Otherwise, right-click SkyDrive on the left panel in Explorer, go to Properties, and then the "Location" tab to set the SkyDrive location.

Thanks, I'll know what to do on a clean install if it's what I end up doing. The in place upgrade on my Thinkpad Tablet 2 went rather well.

I got A11 on my laptop, installed on Windows 8 (and 7), installed fine.
