Ah, sorry, getting you confused with Koeniekoenie who also just bumped into this issue but does have Optimus as an option.
Anyway, looks like you're in good shape, looking forward to see if it works for you once you update the video BIOS.

Lots of issue since installing 8.1, mostly bad. None of my diagnostic/maintenance programs will open, and W8.1 seem annoyingly inquisitive.

In any event, the news is not all bad: Its shaved 6 seconds off my boot up time. Pretty impressive.

I have one question that I keep on forgetting to ask re: calibration.

With the M6700 and the IPS monitor, if I want to calibrate it to sRGB, what is the best option (note that I have an i1DisplayPro):
Leave the color at default windows settings, then calibrate it.
Use PremiereColor to set it to sRGB then calibrate it.
Or is just setting it to PremiereColor sRGB pretty much good enough out of the box?

Depends where you work, in color managed software or not.

For color managed software, leave it default and just calibrate and profile it.
For unmanaged situation, use premier color first. I believe using premiere will leave you in 8bit color depth and non full sRGB, but those two aren't real problem if you are working in non managed software anyways.

Using Lightroom 5, so not 100% sure if it's color managed or unmanaged.

    And so did I.
Although I think it was "-overridesub" or "--overridesub".
I hate doing such things on a running windows, but since Aaron already went that way I was brave enough ;)
No negative effects so far (driver version 320.92)
    [ I don't have Optimus or SecureBoot ]

One thing annoys me: the saved BIOS (via GPU-Z) was 88kb while the new one is 152kb...

    Cheers,
    Alex

Do you put some kind of a cloth cover on the keyboard before you close it? It seems like a good idea in general and especially for the Covets.

I saw other people doing it. But the marks from the keyboard on the display are all removable (at least so far). Not a single scratch on the glass - but it IS attracting dirt...

    Cheers,
    Alex

This [IMG] X3. But any glass will crack, especially at an edge or if a focus pressure point is applied.
RADTech here. Its a prefect fit across the keyboard and makes a great lint free cleaning cloth.

I also double wrap my Precision in a neoprene sleeve before placing it in my messenger for transport. So far the bumps have been without incident.
