To be honest folks upgrade is a bit of a misnomer, don't you think? You're essentially swapping out a low torque diesel engine for a high revving gasoline one, but each has its distinctive use and advantages.

Nevertheless, for want of a better term, I guess it will have to do for the time being.

I would think so, especially in this category. After all, that is who the 6700 is marketed to.

I shall probably keep hold of it; partly because i'll need it should the machine need to go back to Dell for any reason. And partly in case I ever do a job that requires a "diesel engine" rather than a gamer card. I went the route of the K3000 because I figured I *may* one day fiddle with Cuda, also that I'd consider swapping out for games. So I planned ahead a little bit.

Otherwise I would have gone for the AMD instead to save some pennies. I know full well there is a precision difference, specifically double floating point precision though I've not dug deep into it yet as my current role is just basic data shuffling nothing fancy at all.

Well I figured out my issue for the most part at least I think... Uninstalled the premier color app and reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers and all the ghosting/marks went away... Reinstalled premier color and all the junk ghosting/banding came back instantly... So its off my computer now... Can't handle watching videos with all the ghosting stuff going on in them and it being on static wallpapers...

    Just curious:
do you have the RGBLED display?
using the original factory installed image?
how will you change color spaces?

It has been mentioned that premier color use software calculation to clip color space which create banding and all the funny things.

I ordered a M6700 last night, its supposed to be shipped by the 16th. I can't wait.

I will be leaving it on my desk 90% of the time. What should I do about the battery, leave it plugged in all the time? Does that hurt battery life? Someone told me I should remove the battery when its on my desk and just install it and charge it when I'm going to use it in the field.

I ordered 8.0GB, DDR3-1866MHz SDRAM, 2 DIMM. Am I correct that I can just buy 2 more 4GB sticks of memory and have 16GB. How hard is it to add the other two sticks of memory myself and where can I get it, the local sources don't have the 1866MHz.

    Thanks

    Sgt.

I just paid attention to the premier app in your pic, it's RGB.

Ok but I don't have a banding problem with my LCD or playback - low quality videos aren't very pleasant in any mode.

I have used drivers from nVidia site in the past - but on the M6600 they are too sketchy and unpredictable.

I've read in many places that the newer batteries require that they be fully charged if they are to be stored. Keep in mind the M6600 and I think it's been said the M6700 have 1 base foot on the battery meaning you'll only be using 3 of 4 if the battery is removed.

Batteries wear differently (better) than they used to.
