Is the M6700 keyboard the same as the M6600 one? I mean, can I use an M6600 keyboard on the M6700? I think they're the same, but just checking. Thanks.

    guys, big problem...m6700 in sign...
intel centrino n 6205 my wifi
usually connected to internet by cable. but sometimes, of course, I use wifi connection, and both under win8 x64 as win7 x64, it does not work. In any way. no work like wifi to connect my pc to internet and it does not work neither like hot spot (to connect to internet my smarthphone, using wifi and my shared internet cable connection).

I downloaded the drivers from intel site but there's nothing to do..it's incredible...the fact is that it is not broken, since I downlaoded a linux distro (fedora 18) and tried to connect to internet by wifi and It worked in one minute...

I don't really know what to do...

For uses of many programs like those used in AV editing, the mSATA can be used as a scratch disc; or in the case of After Effects, it can be used as a very fast drive to maximize the efficiency of it's hashcash.

M6700 covet IPS screen Vs non-IPS screen on the base m6700

Please see I also posted this in another thread.

Hi Guys, I hear a lot of banding issues. I am not sure exactly what it means. can you someone explain before I chose this laptop? I am trying to after covet version because of IPS screen and gorilla glass thinking the best screen possible for certain things I do in my scientific world. I am already coming from very troubled partnership with XPS 15 and do not want another headache with this. With lots of trouble shooting etc., I lost a lot of time.

What actually is the difference between, covet 6700 and normal 6700. Just color and ips screen?

Also, I cannot configure the covet version with win 8, can I upgrade when I get the laptop from Dell? Once upgraded, did any of you face wireless problems or any other incompatibility issues?

    Please, please kindly educate me.

I am really struggling to chose between covet and m6700 models. There are so many options. I am kind od confused between the screens and the graphics card options. Do not know which one is the best. I am kind of lost. Seems like m6700 is a better value for money. Can somebody help me configure an ideal system.

    Thanks

Can you kindly me tell how did you manage to get win pro 8 in the covet model? I am unable to chose win 8 with ips screen with gorilla glass when I configure. I really like the red color and hence dying to go with it. Can you help guide me?

I am also interested to know about the finger print etc., on win 8

    Thanks

Well got my covet today and all was good until I noticed the casing bent at the latch a little...just the red casing part...

Anyone care to explain this lil warning message about the 512e hard drive that may or may not be in your system?...

Didn't understand it, therefore, figured I didn't need to worry about it. I guess it applies to someone in a far off land?
In basic terms, banding is a phenomenon caused by a screens inability to resolve all the available shades. In the best screens a gradient between say shades of dark gray to lighter is imperceptible; it just gets lighter with no visible transition points.

While with banding you can see clear lines as you transition along the gradient. Banding manifest as lines within the gradient--the circles within circles in the previous post. This is what the lesser monitor give you when it reaches it's limit. Not good, because it means you missing detail. No big deal for most users, but of vital importance for those that can't afford to miss vital data that might be hidden within those bands.

The Gorilla glass and the red color. That's it! Although the covet just begins with higher hardware from the start than others.

I hope so since that's what I intent to do. Others say it no longer an issue.

Don't struggles, the difference is purely cosmetic. Other than those small differences, they both can be configured similarly.

As for the options, they are there for need. Just like the options list of a new vehicle: Would you order a trailer hitch and a tow package if you didn't have a trailer or intend to get one?

Look at your programs and consider how well you want them to run. That should be your starting point for what options you need to consider, and which ones you can ignore.
