I had this exact same problem on my m6500, and now on my new m6700. I wonder if these symptoms are familliar to anyone else here:

(Using a Microsoft 5000 Bluetooth Notebook Mouse with brand new batteries installed)

The FIRST time I used it with the m6700, everything worked perfectly. Click the bluetooth icon in systray, then click add device. Turn on the mouse, click the "Make me discoverable" button on the mouse, and everything happens automatically. First the system sees the device, then when I connect to it, Windows automatically installs drivers. The mouse works perfectly. But only once.

Following a reboot or sleep, the system seems to "see" the mouse in Bluetooth devices, but the mouse doesn't move the cursor. Thinking something needs to be reset, I remove the device in Bluetooth control panel, turn off the mouse itself, then start over with "Add Device". Windows immediately sees the device and allows me to connect. It shows the same "Installed Bluetooth HID driver" message. But the mouse never works again.

I had the exact same experience with my m6500. The Bluetooth mouse worked the first time I used it, then never again. Bluetooth control panel shows the device as connected, working correctly, etc. but the mouse never again controlled the computer.

Does this ring any bells? I've tested the mouse with another non-Dell bluetooth laptop and it works fine there.

Thanks in advance if anyone has any suggestions...

Go to Best Buy and pick up a Logitech m510 for $17.99 :D

I have only used the BT for file transfer between my phone/tablet to the m6600

I love my m510's pick up an extra as they were on sale.

    Hello all,

I'm new here, but I've been reading all the posts for a while now so I could decide between the dell precision and the HP elite book. I received my covet edition last Friday and I'm finally having some time to use the machine.

My config is a M6700 Covet, Intel I7 3840 quad core, quadro K4000, 32 GB of ram, 2 256 GB SSD, IPS display. Laptop arrived 28 days after ordered, and Dell was nice enough to give me a next day shipping for free so I could get it before Xmas break at my office.

First impressions were amazing, speed is great, msata and ssd are Samsung 830. No bloatware installed, but, as bokeh said here, PremierColor did not come installed, but it was easy enough to find. After calibration, things look pretty amazing on the screen, I installed all my Avid software and things run great, all flavors of Dnxhd, no issues. Did not run any specific benches, but I'm happy with the performance.

Now, with the good comes the not so great. The express card will not work with the AJA IO Express box, it just ejects after a few minutes with no warning whatsoever. I talked to AJA and they are sending me a brand new box along with a new cable and express card so we can rule out any problems on their end. Tomorrow I'll have more to say about that.

Another issue is the actual screen.... there is a good amount of backlight bleed, resulting in a uneven color calibration. The left side is slightly warmer than the right side, giving an impression of a darker right side as well. Talked to a rep from dell small business and, after sending them a picture showing the issue, they can have it changed, but I'm afraid of getting something worse than I have right now. I'm gonna think about it this week and decide if I want a replacement or not.

Overall, after a few days of actual use, I'm loving the machine. Build quality is great, software works as expected and customer service has been incredibly helpful. The screen issue is a bit of a downer, but I can live with it, although I'm not 100% happy about it.

I checked order status this morning and discovered that my M6700 finally shipped! I don't know when it will be delivered, because the Track & Trace link for UPS doesn't work yet. I'm guessing either on December 31st or January 2nd.

Unfortunately, my holiday is almost over. I took 2 weeks off from work to thoroughly test and upgrade my M6700, but have been twiddling my thumbs instead waiting for my M6700 to ship.

I'm glad it finally shipped, but I'm frustrated that I wasted 2 weeks time-off. :(

Compromise is for lesser units at lower levels. When you purchase a machine at this level you do so because you want everything to work right as expected. A bleeding uneven display is unacceptable, especially in a professional environment. A tiny anomaly on a rare occasion is one thing, but it should not be something that's continuous during normal operations.

You need to communicate this to Dell, and tell them what you do, and why in a field such as yours, it is vital for you to have a screen that works to the highest level and without defects.

After all, isn't that the whole point of why you chose a workstation and the top IPS display in the first place? As far as I"m concerned, if the display isn't right, nothing is right. The rest of those things are secondary.

You are right. Gonna ask for a replacement screen, this thing costs way too much money to be just acceptable. I'll let you all know what's the result of it.

Excellent. And you may also tell them that my 6700 order is on hold pending the outcome of your situation.

If you're offering a better, more expensive screen, then I had better well be able to SEE the difference.

Incidentally, if anyone can offer any additional information as to how these panels are manufactured different (are they cut from the center sheet?), I'd certainly like to hear about it.

Does the Covet only have a glossy IPS? Is there a matte IPS option too?

It si the gorilla glass that makes the display glossy, regardless of what the display behind it is so nope.
