Thanks for quick reply¬ here's what I had (left) doesent say its from dell or HP, one on the right is k2100m

yeah from your reply I can safely conclude that my m4800 isn't compatible with cards that need a flash, because this model only giving video OUT via GPU in MXM slot ignoring the CPU intel (meaning its not switchable in BIOS)

regarding dell pulls, so are you saying that 1200 might just work if it was pulled from dell? I forgot where mine m2000m came from (might upload image later) but it gave me no display out. those who sold it to me later said they solved the issue but I didn't want to risk with continental shipping.

Assuming you are talking about Quadro M1200? Any Pascal or Maxwell GPU with a Dell vBIOS should work. Just one page back in this thread there is a M1200 success story.

thanks for the write up, its always great to see others taking same risks! :)

I wanted to verify, was your machine QHD or FHD (switchable gfx)?

I am trying to establish if its going to be matter of just swapping card or me needing particular motherboard.

    Hello everybody!

I was wondering about trying to get M2200M for my M4800 (4k, K2100M), but now there should be a P2000M and, possibly, even Turing based quadro out there in a wild quite soon. Surely, I do have access to external lower resolution display, but have concerns about finding proper vbios.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks & Cheers!

The only case that we have of Pascal working in a machine of this generation is, the P5000 working in the M6700/M6800 with a special engineering sample (very early version) vBIOS. The P2000 was not even introduced until a whole generation later, such a vBIOS may not exist for it, or if it does it will be very hard to find.

I wouldn't get my hopes up on a mobile Turing Quadro card, either. We won't be seeing that until the next generation Precision launch (summer, earliest) — and likely not in MXM form until even later (none of the big three workstation manufacturers use MXM anymore).
If NVIDIA does the what they did last gen, they will release Turing for the high-end models (17" systems) and leave Pascal in the lower-end until the next generation (Quadro P1200/P2200 next year, looking at mid/late 2020 for Turing Quadro at the low end). Plus it will likely have the same vBIOS issues as Pascal as far as getting it to work in this generation of Precision systems, if not worse.

M2200 is likely the end of the line for NVIDIA upgrades in this system.

    Hello guys,
Recently, I've come to the conclusion that my old Quadro K1100 is not longer good enough for me. I would like to upgrade to Quadro M2200. The problem is my M4800 is 4k display version, so no switchable graphics involved.
What do you think about it? Should I go for it?

So I did exactly as the above poster did, but my card came unflashed for some damn reason. I've got a Precision 7510, but seller was only able to provide me with a system BIOS image for an HP. If anyone here has a 7520 with the M2200 and could pull the BIOS and get it to me, that would be great; I can't seem to be able to pull the correct ROM from either the HP or the Dell downloaded BIOS files.

So I upgraded my m4800 from a Firepro M5100 2 GB to an RX 460 4 GB (with driver updates, it becomes an RX 560 896SP). I thought I was getting a WX 4150, but none of the Radeon Pro drivers worked with it; however, I still have access to the Pro version of the control panel, so I don't know what's up. I bought the GPU from this listing, so your mileage can vary. For those with an AMD Heatsink, I recommend this upgrade as the performance boost is pretty good. You will need a copper shim for it to work out, but otherwise, it's plug-and-play. I got a badly binned GPU, so my temps and voltage are towards the worst case scenario. I also have to use HWInfo to control the fans as the system fan control isn't good enough for the RX 460. Highest I saw with HWInfo fan control was 81 C with Phobya Nanogrease.

I have a spreadsheet of the performance delta of the two GPUs across multiple games and benchmarks. At least, games and benchmarks I have downloaded. I should note I used different drivers (both from September 2018, though) and RAM configs (8 GB vs 24 GB; same frequency and timing, though), so they may have a slight impact on the differences.
    Screenshot (17).png

I should mention my motherboard only has LVDS, so I can't use the internal screen nor disable Switchable Graphics from the BIOS (I mean, I can, but it would be a bad idea), but I can still use the video ports to avoid Enduro.

Is this card stronger than the Pro WX 7100 ?
