A similarly equipped HP8770w with a 28% discount costs about the same, so I fail to see how that sux. You are getting more features for the same price.

    True

It sucks, because I assume dell had a offer similar discount like HP.... Its not a big deal though, Since I been lean towards the m6700 lately.

any idea how to get the accidental damage option to appear?

(but I'll probably be ordering over the phone in order to try for a discount anyway...)

    Hi,

I'm not sure if it has been posted before. Just curious to know... for M4700 there are 2 9-cell battery options:

    - 97Wh 9-cell with ExpressCharge
    - 87Wh 9-cell with 3yr warranty

Any one knows what are the differences? I'm in the process of getting M4700, but in a dilemma which battery option to choose. First one has a higher Wh (I suppose it means last longer?) but no 3yr warranty which is a big plus since it's for company usage. Second one has lower Wh but with 3yr warranty. And no ExpressCharge?

Having a longer battery life will also be a plus, just that I'm not quite sure how much difference 10Wh can make, and how long typically the battery can last (like 2hrs+? 4hrs+?)

Lastly, I hope the 9-cell battery DOES NOT PROTRUDE OUT from the chassis like the older M4400+9cell?

    Appreciate any advice!

I ordered over the phone and was able to choose 3-year accidental damage protection for the M6700 which was not a choice on the web site.

    Ok...
About the ram on the french dell website both 1600 and 1866MHz are on the same price (for 16gb) so i think i'll go for the the 1866.

Regarding the calibration : I'm not sure to understand you.

are you sure you are talking about hardware calibration and not about software calibration ?
as far as I've understood what an Eizo rep told me, hardware calibration manage calibration info directly through the gpu via a dedicated software edited by the screen manufacturer. eizo and Nec do that for their high end external screens. at the opposite software calibration stores the calibration info on a file (.icc) stored on the computer) the hardware way is supposed to be faster and more accurate as the software one.)

As the precision are supposed to be laptops dedicated to graphic industry i was wondering if they had that possibility or if software calibration was the only approach.

If you're really talking about hardware calibration, i'm surprised it's only possible with a spyder. Usually hardware calibration uses professionnal harware such as X rite I1 pro photo. Colormunki is sometimes compatible too but as the spyder range it's not considered as a real professional hardware... (spyder and colormunki used with their dedicated software are for software calibration)

Any clue when the "soft-launch" is ending? The M6700 is about 1000$ more for the base config on dell.ca compared to dell.com, so i'm hoping that will be fixed once the soft-launch is over ... The US/CAD dollar is at parity (1US=1CAD) so that roughly translate to a 50% surcharge.

Good luck on waiting for that to happen. Regardless of the dollar status, you will always pay more in Canada, unless there's a typo on the website.
