While I'll be upgrading to Win8 at launch on my (non-touchscreen) M6600, I don't expect Win8 to be good for businesses. The Metro interface changes have very few benefits for desktop / laptop users; while underlying OS improvements are considerably, they aren't enough to offset the jarring UI changes for most people.

Desktop / workstation users are a tiny sliver of the market; and unlike hardware manufacturers, Microsoft doesn't make any more money off of a M6600 than a $650 Vostro 3750.

In a few years, desktop sales are expected to me < 30% of "traditional" laptop sales, and if you add tablets in it'll be lower still.

The play makes a lot of sense for Microsoft and for most of its customers, just not for people likely to be interested in a Dell Precision.

I cannot belive that Dell will use Heathrow XT in new M6700.

New 7870M is much slower than old 6970M (FirePro M8900), isn't it?

Tired of the off center trackpad on the M6500. Despite a good machine I could never use the keyboard for long stretches as it just hurts my hands. I have no use for a numpad and the left hand just is always positioned asymmetrically - across the sharp edge on the side ... But looks like most new large laptops will have the off center trackpad anyway.

I do not think m6700 will be different.

Looks like Lenovo for me this time

Now that the new MacBook Pro is equipped with the retina display up to 2880*1800, will we get it too?

They released two new MacBook Pros without the retina display as well (13" and 15"). Both of them have 16:10 displays. So, someone still makes those displays. *grumble*

Though, they did drop the 17" model altogether.

They made up less than 1% of the laptop sales for Apple so....
