    Awesome find, thanks!

The E7440 / E7450 definitely definitely will be considered closely.

It only would have to be made sure that these candidates will drive 4K monitors at 60Hz, and that the iGPU is powerful enough to fluidly rotate medium-to-complex Sketchup 3D models (however the latter not necessarily at 4K resolution).

Bear with me -- what about the alleged "Best Business Laptop Overall", ThinkPad T450s?

A cad program that can't even represent a circular hole with arcs instead of a polygon leaves a lot to be desired.

Here's an update regarding my requirements:

    - style
    - ultrabook size with 13" to 15"
    - touchscreen
    - stable hinges (not oscillating when using touchscreen)
    - build quality
    - power for work
    - variability (e.g. SSD and HDD)
    - future-proofness (drive external monitors with 4K @60Hz)

    Candidates are at present:
    1. Dell M3800
    2. Dell E7440 / E7450
    3. Lenovo T450s
Thanks for any further hints or decision support!

If you really need a pro graphics card then the T450s isn't for you. Based on the review it only comes with an Intel GPU. That would be a non-starter for me. I may not need the most powerful CAD system but I need more than Intel currently offers. I'm not sure if the Latitudes have any upgrade GPU options either.

    Thank you, Regnad.

One more thing (apart from Sketchup) I need to be able to run absolutely fluidly is Google Earth. At times I love to stroll around the Globe, especially in the European Alps, and I (literally) get physically ill if panning or rotating is jerky.

I guess I'll have to go and try try those 3D apps with:
    a) (bigger) Intel HD graphics like the 5500, and with the
    b) (smaller) dGPUs like Quadro K1100M (M3800) or GeForce GT 750M (XPS 15).

    ...and see if they suffice.

However, I always appreciate any additional points of view or alternatives regarding high-end ultrabooks.

I don't think either of those programs will be too much for the dedicated cards.

I should hope so -- however I would hate to find out otherwise after I bought.

    Here's a comparison between
    1. my current card, a passive Radeon HD 7750 (which @1680x1050 perfectly handles Sketchup with max AA settings, Google Earth @fullscreen is ~tolerable),
    2. Quadro K1100M (Dell M3800), and
    3. Intel HD 5500 (Dell E7450, Lenovo T450s):
