Dell outlet has some Precisions 5510 that mention fingerprint reader in the description....given that there's more of those I wonder if it's a mistake or not...any thoughs? Also what is "thermal pad"?

I highly suspect that the fingerprint reader is a mistake. "Thermal pad" is likely the cooling pad between the M.2 SSD and the bottom part of the chassis (I don't know why this would need to be listed in the specs...).

It will be listed as it is fitted to nvme m.2 drives and not the slower sata based m.2.

I've got a Precision 5510 (the replacement to the one that I created the thread about), and I'm pretty happy with it so far. However, I do have an issue with it - the screen momentarily goes black for about 1-2 seconds, then restores like nothing happened. This usually happens when I'm browsing the web (with MS Edge). I reckon it's bad drivers that are the culprit, but I've reinstalled and updated all drivers to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Intel hd630/530 drivers from Intel's site will fix it. You have to manually install them.

Just got my battery replaced by dell. The reason was my touchpad was starting to fail. Super hard to click and it raised out from the palm rest.
This was caused by my battery swelling under it.
New battery and touchpad is back to normal...

Interesting. Is this the Precision 5510 or M4700 listed in your signature.

How old was the battery? Which size? Had you put the battery through a good number of charge cycles?

The battery issue has cropped up on the 9550 threads as well, 1st guys trackpad lifted up on one side, Dell tried to play hardball but he won in the end and got a battery swap.
