Which browser is being used? Anecdotely Chrome is a battery hog.

    My 2 cents

Just received our 5510's yesterday. A couple of observations/questions for the group:

As I believe has been discussed before, if the machine is ordered with a single M2 SSD, the 2.5" HDD bay is empty and does NOT include the interposer needed to connect a 2.5" drive. Has anyone had any luck obtaining this from Dell? I've been told by several departments thus far that they can't give OR sell it to me. In other words, the spare HDD bay is useless. Bravo. They actually advised me the only way to resolve this is to return the system and re-order it with 2 drives!

I bought a Logitech MX Anywhere-2 to use with this machine, because it has Bluetooth connectivity and I wouldn't have to eat up a USB port with a mouse receiver. Unfortunately, it doesn't play well with Windows 10 - I can connect it fine, but after about 5 minutes it stops working. The Bluetooth menu still shows it connected, the status light on the mouse says it's connected, but the mouse doesn't work. I've power cycled the mouse, no effect. The only way I've found to get it back is to remove it from the device list, stop/start Bluetooth, and re-pair it. Does anyone have any tips on how to get Bluetooth peripherals to stay connected? I went into the Bluetooth adapter power management settings and un-checked the box allowing Windows to turn it off to save power; no effect.

I had a similar experience when my M4700 was new, it turn out to be a power saving option in the bluetooh software/driver that could be turned off. It took a while to figured that out...

Uhg. I can't believe the 5510 doesn't come with cable for the 2.5" bay. That and TPM were all of my reasons to go with the 5510 over the XPS 15. I may return it.

I guess it pays to read here first.

    Regards.

For those interested Dell has the owners guide online in the support area but it has some misinformation in the specifications section which seems to be from the XPS15.

    My 2 cents

If you look around online, you'll find the XPS has the same issue. The required cable is the same, and evidently Dell is very stingy with them. A couple of XPS owners reported being able to order the cable back in November, but I don't believe they actually received them yet - delivery date keeps getting pushed back. At present I can't even get them to commit to sell me one.

Also, updating the Bluetooth issue above, I installed the latest network drivers from Dell, and that appears to have solved the problem. BT mouse has been working flawlessly for about 2 hours now, including through a sleep-and-wake cycle. Seems kind of silly that the computer ships with a driver dated July 2015 when Dell already has updates dated November/December on the site.

Yeah, I was surprised to find out that the XPS 15 9500 had TPM too. From a feature perspective the Precision offers the faster CPUs (Xeon and such) and a different Nvidia graphics card and maybe a few more customization options--but that's about it. There may be some other intangibles (superior QA? tweaked motherboard design?) but I am still seeking confirmation on those.

Still it is cool to have the Precision branding on the laptop :)

It has TPM too? Sigh, I can't stand the pre sales (or post) support guys. I submit that they keep the part difficult to obtain specifically so that people that want m.2 and 2.5" spindle are forced to buy precision at a higher price (especially if you don't use coupons, etc.) and not XPS.

Now XPS has TPM as well!!!! I researched this pretty thoroughly (all but asking here).

With confirmation the XPS 15 has TPM it'll probably go back.

What a completely worthless Dell rep! Yesterday I spoke to a Dell rep here in sweden whom actually was really helpful. He managed to put togehter an order for me of the sata cable AND the rubber protection stuff to keep the SSD from ratling in the cage.
I will not cheer yet though since I havent got an order conformation or paid for it yet, but still I have my hopes up. Of course I have to pay like 80 USD for it, but I have no choice. Thanks dell for not including it!

I thought TMP was just a question of bios updates? So maybe they'll add it?
