    How?

    E5450 didn't have HQ quad

E5550 maxed out at 62Whr I think, 5570 offers 84whr. Don't think E5550 offered HQ quad, not sure

(Well E74x0 went backwards on storage options for 2 straight generations. 7440->7450 wwan slot lost m.2 sata, 7450->7470 lost 2.5" space )

I guess you are right about the 5000 series and the HQ CPUs, I guess I was referring to the old-school 6000 series which the 5000 series replaced. My E6540 was nice in that I could have quad-core, mSATA SSD, and 2.5" HD. This new E5570 is the first 5000 series I have and its disappointing that they can only support one of the standard, most commonly used SSD formats at a time (2280 M.2 or 2.5"). Yes I can use 2242 M.2 but it is not as common.

And when I made my statement I was thinking about the E74x0 series too! Like you mentioned they went steps back in the storage department for 2 generations now. I have a E7470 and my wife has a E7440. The E7440 is a better all-around machine I feel. It also has the older-style keyboard (non-chiclet) which I feel is better.

Dell precision 7510 is a better match (spec/weight) for your E6540 than latitude E5570

For a SATA M.2 drive, it is probably both easier and cheaper to simply get an aftermarket M.2/NGFF to regular SATA or 2.5" bracket; I already had one (from migrating data on another machine with was M.2-only; I had to use it to use an external USB cable to clone the original drive) but they're under $20 and available at practically any computer store now.

I am having trouble getting a 5570 to recognise the Transcend drive in the WWAN slow. I have had a good read through this thread and the 5470 one and checked the BIOS settings, also tried upgrading from 1.5.0 to 1.8.3 but no luck.
I have also tried the drive in a 5470 - that works fine.
The 5570 has a Core i7-6600U but the 5470 has a Core i5-6300HQ. Could this be the key difference?

If I understand correctly, a notebook that comes with 4-cell battery and HDD drive (obviously in 2.5'' slot) can be upgraded to SSD drive (in the same 2.5'' slot) as well as second drive M2 drive in the mini pci-e slot. Is that correct?

(Second m2 drive is in the wwan slot... it supports a shorter form version SATA M.2 2240, not the regular m.2 2280), but everything else is correct

but as you can see from this thread (and e5470), some people are having problems getting the wwan slot to work properly (or getting it to boot from wwan slot)

At this point, dont count on wwan slot to work, be prepared to return your new shiny laptop if it doesn't

So by default this model should support only 1 drive (that is the 2.5'' one). I understand the free WWAN slot is ment to be used for 3G modem? Or is it officially supported slot for m2 2240 drive?

Hi john, can you by any chance check in moninfo for any information on the screen installed in your latitude e5570? in your review you mentioned that you suspect that the panel is au optronics b156hw01 v.1, but there is probably a mistake in labeling this panel or in panelook website, because in the website this model name leads to a TN panel that was discuntinued in 2009.

The E5570 has gone to a new home but I have checked my records. If that panel has been discontinued then it will have been very recently (the 2009 Q3 is the mass production commencement) as there are plenty available to purchase. Perhaps it has been superseded by the B156HAN01.1 but stocks of the old panel are still being cleared. There is also the G156HTN01.0 which has better contrast (which might be related to the "Antiglare (Haze 25%)". It is, however, possible that I used an older version of Moninfo which wasn't aware of the newer panels and wrongly reported based on the information in its database. I had assumed that it could directly read the panel details but maybe it it makes an interpretation from the EDID data.
