True, I'm certainly not complaining :) It feels snappy and responsive at all times. I was just a bit surprised, since my OCZ Core SSD showed a near straight line at 145 MB/s in Sandra.

Bah... Just noticed that my SD card reader is no longer working. It looks like the tech that replaced my wrist rest broke it while reassembling... Now I need another service call.

I ain't too thrilled with what I have heard thus far. Jason, how has it held up after a couple of weeks of use?

@bingo, what Core SSD variant is it? Is it v2? You may want to test it with HDTune as the testing methodology is different.

My Core SSD is a v1. I'll try HDTune, thanks. It should be interesting to see the actual differences between the two, as Sandra's HDD benchmark is relatively limited.

    Seems nobody knows buddy.

I had a look at a latitudeON "ready" E4200 last week... it had a socket inside labeled for the LatitudeON hardware..... So I've given up waiting for that and will upgrade later.

However, colour and backlit keyboard. No idea.... I'm waiting desperately :-(

My Dell guy promised both by the 20th Oct. Still no word on what is actually going on.

Anyone still concerned about the weight? The unit I had last week, weighed 1.03 kilograms with the 4cell

^^ Well it's always good to know the weight from different folks. I think we have established that it's as light as Dell claimed. Unusual honesty from a manufacturer. Perhaps we should all wait for the E4210 and for the kinks to be ironed out. There *must* be a problem with the backlit keyboard design that is preventing it from showing up.

Or there's just a shortage as with the Wireless 5530 (AT&T) WWAN card I've been waiting on for 2 months now...

Physically, just fine. With the exception of the screen (which has a little flex to it) it's a sturdy little machine. What I'm not happy with is the QC coming out of the factory.

My screen has a 2" wide pink stripe on the right side and two smaller ones about 1" wide each in the middle (all with soft edges, so it's a bad screen, not a loose cable or bad video card) and the thumbprint reader died after 3 hours of use.

A service call fixed the thumbprint reader (by completely ripping apart the system and replacing the palm rest + reader) but seems to have broken my SD card reader in the process.

Also, the screen is still messed up (the tech failed to call me back after the initial call to tell me he had the part, and then I left town for two weeks) and it's been a week since I emailed the Dell rep I was working with on that issue and she hasn't gotten back to me yet. I'm sending her another message now to see if I can get the service taken care of on Monday when I get back in the office.

EDIT: Also inquired as to getting a new system build expedited as this machine may be cursed and the on-site techs in this area stink.

Hey buddy, thank your stars you are in US of A--can't be worse than the techs here in the Middle East. They open up a laptop with 30 screws but magically only 26 go back in!
