Yeah, it's really not as small as I figured it would be. Light? Yes, definitely. Small, not so much.

The good news is that the system barely gets warm on the bottom with the fan running all the time and the keyboard is room temperature (which I couldn't say for the D820 I had) so if Dell ever decides to throttle the fan back a bit I seriously doubt that the notebook would have heat issues unless you were really throttling it (at which point the fan could spin back up to a higher speed).

Oh, and I've already got two pending service calls on my E4200. The wrist rest with the fingerprint reader is scheduled to be replaced today or tomorrow and the screen will be replaced as soon as a new one is available (out of stock). I'm leaving town in a couple days for more than two weeks, so this might not get fixed for me until November.

I didn't notice it right away, but on a white or light gray background there is a 2" strip in the right side of the screen that has a slight pink hue and a couple more in the middle about 3/4" each.

On the plus side, the ProSupport reps are Gold. You tell them you have a problem and you get direct access to engineers and they actually trust you when you say there is a problem, rather than make you repeat mind-numbingly-stupid troubleshooting steps that have nothing to do with your problem.

So you all know, my service call for the fingerprint reader went well today. It looks like my first one was bad as the new has worked perfectly over the past couple hours.

Looks like you are all set, Jason. That's good news. I can't believe there is still not any more info on the E4200.

Watch for those BIOS updates. November is coming around and with it, hopefully, LatON's full variant.

Thanks for the interesting comments so far on the new Dell (I'm a new user, so bear with me).

I just got my shiny new E4200, but since I got it from work I'm unsure which SSD I have.

Or to be exact, I know it's a Samsung "SSD thin uSATA 6" from the device manager, but is this Dell's "mobility" or "performance" model?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I ordered one a couple of weeks ago, where do you live? Mine won't be here for another 2 weeks

I am still waiting for color options. This is almost end of October. How much longer do I have to wait for Color, Latitude ON and Backlit keyboard?

That's what I have and I ordered the "Ultra Performance" version.

Ok, thanks litkaj! Also, I thought I might mention that I tested the Samsung drive in Sandra and i got the same surprisingly uneven results as you did in HD Tune. The drive peaks at about 160 MB/s (read) but randomly drops to under 80. Hmm.. ?

That's still stellar performance. Better than 85% of the SSDs out there without the premium (amongst SSDs, that is).
