    @monakh, did you set the laptop to High performance in Vista, and did you plug-it in. Because eon my Lat E6400, the results are different as when it's plugged in it doesn't enable any power savinng features.

    I believe the laptop was plugged in when I took those benchies. However, it doesn't matter as I have taken the Dell-recommended profile and modified some of the power-saving features so that it's more balanced than the standard profiles provided in Vista. My laptop behaves more or less the same whether it is plugged in or not. Gotta modify the profile by hand though. It takes a few minutes to go through every item.

    The benchies were taken with the CPU at 1400MHz.

    I contacted Dell today and it is within 21 exchange period, so they built a case and will send me a replacement. Only took me totally 3 minutes, thank god for their great support.

    Good for you. Glad to see Dell fixing it for ya. Their support is 75% of the reason I stay with them (the other 25% being the products). It cannot be matched by anyone, anywhere as far as I am concerned. And I have tried them all.

    It great, you get to keep your machine until you get the new one, and get a new battery and stuff.
    Once you get the new machine, you can switch the HDD's if you don't want to re-install everything, just ask them. This is what I did.

    @achen
    I have the exact same problem. After a few days of using the machine I noticed that pretty much just touching the paint removed it. Gonna call them later today about it...

    Wow, that's terrible Saosin. When did you start seeing the problem exactly? Was it within a week or two of the delivery? Would you mind taking some pics?

    I am guessing our E4200's might be made in the same batch....

    Is there any way to make my E4200 switching the power plan automatically according to it's plugged in or on battery?

    Could someone please tell me how thick is the E-Module optical drive?

    I bought a Media Base with my E4200 and returned it, I liek to purchase a portable external drive, I do not care if it's USB or e-SATA, I only care about its thickness, the thinnest one I saw in local store is 17.6 mm, I am wondering how thick the Dell E-Module is? I found this link but it does not tell me the dimention.
