XD I was in your server all night tonight! I never received the notification that i was replied to here! Anyway, i have an update, and boy, is it a juicy one

    UPDATE AND IMPORTANT INFO:
Thanks to a discord friend in @woodzstack 's server, I have managed to get my gpu back up and running.

TLDR WARNING: i crossflashed my gpu vbios DO NOT FLASH A DIFFERENT BIOS THAN WHAT YOUR CARD HAS. PERIOD

So, I thought I had a msi gt72vr card, due to my devices id which was 1BA1. So I looked online for newer bioses to try to fix my black screen with optimus off issue. Biggest mistake you can make. I booted right back up and I couldnt get anything other than a code 43 error, as in the gpu reported problems. No matter what I did I would still end up with this error. I even tried flashing the stock bios that I downloaded for this card. Still a no go. Still got error 43. I even tried to order a hw programmer because I was having issues even trying to flash the card with nvflash. (Wouldnt detect the card properly in code 43 state even when disabled)

Then I joined the discord group and waited patiently for a reply from Someone, and low and behold I got more information than I bargained for. The card uses the p5000 board, but with a 1070 chip and since it is a dell, it uses different vrms and power delivery than the msi card. So when I flashed the "MSi" bios, it essentially told the card to draw too much voltage, in doing so stopped the card from working. My theory on what happened, and this is based on my friends theory, is that the card entered a safe state, to prevent the card from breaking. This is a quadro board we are talking about.

Anyways, luckily I had saved a backup.rom of the vbios of my card, and eventually, with the help and patience of my friend in the server, was able to flash the backup using nvflash. I rebooted and used ddu to get rid of the driver before rebooting once more. Back in windows, I used driver 417.01, which was the driver i knew had worked for me before i reinstalled windows.

I WAS BACK IN BUSINESS!!!! The card now works like it did before, and I am glad I didn't burn the vrms.
This board's bios has it set to throttle at 54 degrees c which in my opinion is really dumb. But I will probably be remedying that with a hw programmer in the future. Also, this cards full tdp seems to be accurate at 115w and you really shouldn't make it go above 130w with a modded bios. Not really safe.

    p5000 board eh? Very interesting.

Not that I want to be that guy, but maybe you could let it run something like Unigine Heaven overnight just to make sure it can handle extended loads? That would make it much more enticing for more laptop users like myself. Make sure not to do this with Furmark, Im not sure why but people still like to go to that application for stress testing.

With the GPU installed, are you still able to access your BIOS?

Regarding cross flashing, only makes sense to try that when you have a MXM card from a desktop product (as those dont typically come with signal outputs) and have the means to reflash in case it doesnt work out.

54C is pretty low, but I was able to have my 780m with modded vBIOS running 54C with full fan speed so while its annoying, its not impossible.

I am glad woodzstack was able to help (assuming that is the friend)

GPU score looks a little low, but with a little tuning should be just right.

I can when i am not at work. *Most likely monday night*
yes i can access my bios, as long as optimus is enabled through the bios.
nope. that wasnt the case here. The device id SAYS its an msi gtx 1070, but it is IN FACT a dell gtx 1070 due to the DELL quadro p5000 board
the 54c is due to the vbios, which cannot be changed without a hw programmer, as there isnt any other vbioses for a MODIFIED DELL BOARD
While this is not the friend, I did connect with him and the community there is awesome and forthgiving, so i do thank them for all of their wisdom.

Ah so on its own you can access the BIOS. Thats a bit of a shame but hardly unexpected as that is similar behavior of other MXM 1070's except maybe the zotac? I cant recall.

Yeah even opening it up to 65c would be a great budget to work with for those that dont want to have to run their fans max all the time. I use headphones so I dont mind it.

    Anyways thanks for sharing!

I am hoping for similar success with my Ranger in the coming months.
