7720 systems with MXM 3.0a cards (M1200, M2200) will likely need the heatsink assembly replaced if moving to a MXM 3.0b card. If you already have a MXM 3.0b card (Quadro 3000-series and up) you should be fine.

Pretty sure 7720 was the only generation where they offered MXM 3.0a cards in the 17" system...

Ah. I didn't know. That's kinda stupid if I say so myself. In theory, the 7710 cooling system should work for the 7720 and if you wanted, I have an extra mxm3.0b graphics card you could use. Dm me if you want it (i think it is a quadro k4100m)

Update: I got the 1070 and I can confirm by looking at the chip that it is in fact a 1070. And it looks exactly like the one in the ebay pic. Dont believe me? See below.

I am running the last benchmark on my machine now. Once that is dont I will be letting the system cool before changing the card out.

Did you uninstall the driver before installation?

You might have to mod the INF of the nvidia driver as well as I dont think the 7710 came with a 1070.

Are you certain its power limit? Not heat or loss of fan?

What AC adapter came with your 7710?
