I've been able to watch multiple episodes of the office and I think a movie on my D630 without any pain, in case it helps.

I have a D630 and my husband has a D820. The D630 has only one speaker and the D820 has two. (Per the spec sheet, the D830 also has two speakers.) The sound on my husband's D820 is definitely better than my D630. The sound on my D630 isn't horrible, but I wouldn't want to listen to music with it. It's perfectly fine for what I use my lap top for.

After recently posting about how well my D630 works, my display broke. When I turn it on and it displays any graphics the colors are all off. I contacted Dell, and they're goign to send me a new LCD which I'll replace myself (the alternative being waiting a lot longer and running the risk that I won't get back the ram I put into the machine because it's not part of the original configuration). But hopefully it'll all go smoothly.

Hmm..so this is the screen and not the Graphics Card?

What kind of use did you put your D630 through? I'm crossing fingers, and hope this was just a single incident. I think Dell will take care of you. Luckily we all have the 3 yr Warranty at the very least.

    Best,
    Ilham

It's definitely the screen, everything looked fine on an external monitor. I haven't put the machine through anything really excessive, just taking it to class in my backpack (but even then it was in a thin protective sleeve).

The ETA for my screen was the 17th, but I talked to customer support and they said it was wrong and it'd actually be here Monday. So I'm hopeful that it'll all work out well.

I keep going back and forth between the D630 and the XPS M1330. There are a concerning number of posts about a CPU "whine" connected to the 1330. Have you heard this on your D630?

My current lappy is a D810. I'm tired of lugging it and my old eyes are tired of the tiny type when running at native resolution. It sounds like everyone here loves the non-glossy screen but how about the D630 font size when surfing the Net at native resolution?

Do you have the WXGA+ LCD Panel?
The reason they gave for the delay on my laptop was a supply issue with the screens and they said it wouldn't be until closer to the end of September before their available again. Maybe I'm getting the run around?
