The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Does anyone know if the 7440 has room for both an SSD (M.2 or otherwise) and an HDD at the same time? Because if so, I finally know what I'm replacing my T520 with... a 7440 with i7-4600U, 16 gigs of RAM, a 256GB SSD and one of those new WD 1TB 7mm HDDs...

Not sure about the 7440 but when I was talking with Dell support the other day about the 7240 they said it will has a 2.5" drive. Didnt ask about about any other drives though.

ORLY? The spec sheet only lists a Mobility SSD for the 7240, so I figured it was M.2-only... if the 7240 can also fit both an HDD and an SSD, I might be able to go for that instead... every little bit of weight saved is great :)

09/03/2013 06:51:51PM Agent (Meg_G): "On the home page, the tab beside "Overview", you may click "Tech Specs"."
    09/03/2013 06:52:02PM Agent (Meg_G): "SSD is 2.5"

It's not for the HDD... when you drop it, the notebook automatically tweets, "WOOOOOOOOO!" :p

The 7240 only has slot for a msata ssd. the 7440 has a slot for msata as well as a 7mm 2.5" slot for a HD.
