Mano-G has stated on these forums more than once that ECC RAM is not supported in the 5510.

There is speculation that it "should" work anyway, because the memory controller is in the CPU, and the Xeon CPUs support ECC RAM. No one has tried it yet as far as I know.

I dont hope the none vpro chipset is the limitation... I ordered without

    Update:
I get my 5510 Friday, and hope to have the Transcend 16GB single channel ECC module around that time. Delivery was unknown though, but last week it said 3-4 days.

just tried to install 32GB of ECC ram into my 5510. No luck, won't even turn on. The status LED (on the front edge, near the bottom) blinks; 2 amber, 3 white. Haven't had luck finding a list of diagnostic codes for this but I'm guessing its RAM related.

Interesting. This may be what Dell-Mano-G was trying to warn us about.

Do you know which chipset your machine came with? Is it a vPro config or a non-vPro config?

Which RAM sticks did you pick up, in particular?

Look under the category System devices. Will properly either show HM170 or CM236

Sorry about the question, but you CPU is Xeon right?

    Yes, its a Xeon CPU.

Chipset says "Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Series Chipset Family..." Theres 10 or 11 lines that start with that under System Devices
