    For anyone else who's sick of the crappy 768p screen on the Vostro 3460, I found a way to upgrade to 900p screen.

    The TL;DR version is that the LCD cable H58TK works with 900p screens.

    I figured out that that a similar laptop, the Inspiron 7420, comes with a 1600x900 option and shares the same motherboard layout, so the cabling should be very compatible. I found the part number H58TK for the lcd cable, tried it with a 900p screen (B140RTN02.1) and it worked.

    The next step is to replace the cable in the laptop itself which will is a fairly involved process so it probably won't happen any time soon. The routing for the cable is mostly the same, so I think I should be able to keep all the functionality with no problems.

    Short update. I tried using included cable in the small hope of not having to swap cables, and it will definitely not work with the new screen. I get a green tinted mess with every other column missing. The LVDS cable definitely needs to be replaced.

    So only the H58TK cable works when you plug it to the motherboard?

    Hallelujah. I did it!!!!! :D:D:D:cool::cool:

    I just upgraded the screen to with the new panel.

    Word of caution the H58TK cable is slightly shorter than the stock LVDS cable.

    I ordered the screen and cable as well.
    Any problems with the installation of the screen?

    THE h58tk LVDS cable is a little shorter than the stock vostro 3460 cable so you have to stretch it a little in order to thread it through the hinge. You will also have to stretch a little to plug it in to the motherboard.
    You will need to completely remove the lid to thread the LVDS cable through the hinge.
