I ordered 3450 instead because I do need the expresscard.
Because of portability I would have preferred 3350 if it had that verstile connector.
I suspect the big 3450 sale numbers (and some of the X220 sales) do hide lost 3350(with expresscard) buyers -like me- that had to look otherwise for a laptop and who would had been happier with able 3350.

I'm wondering between Thinkpad Edge E320, Vostro V131 and Vostro 3350. Does 3350 or V131 supports mSATA (for Intel 310 SSD) in the mini PCIE slot for the WWAN? I would appreciate if the answer is backed up with experience (someone that has tried it), or with official document from DELL, because I couldn't find an answer for this question. Thanks in advance for the help! :)

Hello Everyone. I've just join the 3350 club.

Just wondering if anyone's Vostro 3350 Screen is not clear? Mine looks grainy with the grid matrix pretty darn visible even from a 1-1.5' away. Even my old Inspirion 1300 looks more clearer than this.

I've been researching this for my V131 (or any laptop I could find where someone had tested the 310) and since the V131 and 3350 are quite similar in design as far as I know I'm going to out on a limb and say that this is not possible. For the Intel 310 to work a mSATA controller would have to be connected to the (mini)PCIe-bus and ... well no computer designer would do this unless he would want to specifically use a 310 SSD and if that was the case it would for sure be possible to configure the 3350 with said SSD before ordering. Only laptops that I know the 310 works on is quite a few lenovo laptops and a couple of latitude (or was it precision?) models.

So while I can't offer any "official documents" it's fair to say that it will not work. Maybe an SSD with an integrated SATA controller would, but even then it's a bit of a long shot for it to be recognized by the bios as a bootable device.

But since I haven't tested this myself I would be very happy to be proven wrong, I'm just saying there's nothing that would indicate that it would work.

Regrettably, this is common across the entire Vostro line. My past and present Vostros all have pretty low-quality screens (V13, older 17", and my current 3450).

Dot pitch is poor on these displays and the so-called screendoor effect is indeed visible.

At the price they sell these for, it's no surprise that the displays are cost-cut. I mean, I just recently purchased a 3450 for $575 with an i5, 6GB, and 6630M card. Amazing price-to-performance that could only occur with low grade parts.

Wow, I never knew the "screendoor effect" (Perfect way to describe what i'm seeing) was more common than I originally thought.
I'd never experience this before as I gone through 2 Dells, 2 Toshibas, and one Lenovo.
Even my families laptops are fortunate enough not to have this effect.

I absolutely agree with you with the amazing price-to-performance aspect of it. At the same time, with low grade parts, one can only wonder about the reliability. I guess only time will tell.
Other than the screendoor effect, this is one slick laptop. Love it!

Can anyone kindly re upload this calibration file? I'd like to try it and see if there are any improvements to the screen. Thanks!

Here it is. Please rename the file to "icm" file extension. (I renamed it so I could include it as an attachment).

I agree. it's a decent screen, but it's not great. For office work, this screen is very good (once calibrated). For multimedia, however, it leaves much to be desired.
