I can squeeze a guaranteed 4.5 hours out of it, with the LCD brightness set to 50%, WiFi on, Outlook, OneNote, IM, several OPEra tabs, several IE tabs, Visual Studio.

There have been a few days I broke the 5 hour mark, somewhere between 5-5.5hrs. Never over that though.

I'm not sure there's a 6-cell battery option, but maybe tthat's for the US site? I know for sure there is a 4-cell and 8-cell

for an ultraportable, the speaker is quite good. admittedly i've had better from my 12" HP TC4400 TPC, but this speaker is still good.

the $3500 Toshiba M400 we have has stereo speakers on it and they are terrible compared to the mono speaker on this $500 Vostro 3350.

that said, if you want to have good audio quality, it might be worthwhile to invest in a portable speaker.

not sure if i asked this before (couldn't find it searching through this thread), but has anybody gotten the biometric reader to work after a fresh install of Windows 7?

I have the driver properly installed, but can't seem to get Windows to recognise the device and make use of it.

If I uninstall the device driver from Device Manager, and select "delete the driver from this computer", I'm able to get Windows to recognise the device and automatically install its own driver. Using the Biometric Devices control panel, I can begin "enrolling" my fingerprints, but everytime I select a finger to enroll, I get this error message box:
"Message text for the error 0x8009801C not found".

A web search explains that this error code means that my fingerprint data is already enrolled, but it isn't. After trying again, I get the error code 0x80098022, which apparently means there's something wrong with the database (corrupt or malformed). This is the only error message I receive now.

ANybody else had this much trouble with the fingerprint reader?

Yes, I was having trouble. I called Dell and after infinite trouble shooting (none of which worked, obviously) I got them to send me the Digital Persona Fingerprint software as well as the resource CD. The fingerprint reader now works fine.

I would also recommend trying My Dell Downloads. I wasn't able to access it, but it includes all of the software that came with your computer....so I hear.

If anyone lets me know a good free software for making an ISO of the disc, I can do it. Somewhere to host it might be nice too.
