remove two screws, slide off bottom panel. remove one screw, slide out ODD. easy!

FWIW, the 200 bucks i spent on the intel 310 msata ssd is probably the best 200 bucks i've ever spent on any computer upgrade/component. now using any other computer just feels slow and laggy

I had to the the exact opposite, mine came with the Samsung panel and it was terrible. I got DELL to send me a replacement LCD and it was LG, I replaced it myself and it's 100x better. I think that there are good and bad ones from each vendor no matter who.

Does anyone else have a loose bezel on their m4600? I got the non ips 1920x1080 panel and I noticed the plastic bezel around the screen is a bit loose. I can wobble it about 1/32 inch on the left and right side edges. Is this normal? I may post a video of it if needed.

Anthony I think I have the same thing, I noticed it the first time I opened the laptop because sometimes if I touch it, it makes a relatively loud clicking noise. If I push in the bottom right side of the bezel I can move it ever so slightly to the left (moving the bottom left corner a little) but that is really the only place. I hope it's not a huge problem but hopefully if it ever worsens it will be covered by the warranty...

My M4600 is good and tight. I understand your problem because I have experienced that with my old M4400.

The bezel comes off pretty easy, I know because I changed my LCD already. It snaps off just be careful and go slowly.

    Removing The Non-Touchscreen Display Bezel

** Mine is not loose at all, so chances are that all of your snaps are not locked in.

    Hi,

    I've buy a Dell Precision M4600 (i5-2540, 4GB Ram, 750GB, FHD 1920x1080, Quadro 1000, w7 x64). Now I want to install 8GB DDR3 1333 Corsair Ram in Secondary memory slot and I've follow these instruction:

    Removing The Secondary Memory

When I open the Dell I found a little surprise:

If I try to install 8GB in Secondary Memory, the bios doesn't work at all (black screen and no dell logo). If I install in Primary Memory M4600 work fine and use all 8GB of ram... anyone have found this surprise in secondary memory slot? Is there a way to install more than 8GB of ram?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor English but I'm only an Italian student...

You will need a quad core machine if you want to use all 4 memory slots

I've been experimenting with the M4600 and DVD playback, and it's not at all clear to me whether or not the graphics card is being used (I suspect the rendering is all being done by the Intel CPU).

The card is the AMD ATI Firepro M5950 Mobility Pro, and I've downloaded AMD's ATI-Memory Viewer utility. It shows 36MB used (out of 1GB) sitting at rest, and when a DVD is playing it shows exactly the same thing. The utility is freely available from AMD:
    Plug-ins and Tools

Anyone have ideas on how to determine whether or not the GPU is being used, and if so to what extent?

I'm particularly interested in determining where a scaling problem is occurring between a non-BluRay (e.g., DVD 9) source disk and an external Dell U2410 monitor - I'm seeing refresh problems on the external monitor in the form of horizontal banding when the image is changing quickly (e.g., during a pan).

    Thanks much.
