Webcam arrived today, so later, I'd say in about 3-4 hours I'll get the job done and post some pictures. ;)

If a picture is worth a thousand words, what would worth a few pictures with words in them? :D

I skipped the part that shows how to remove the front bezel. If you still need it, you can find it on Dell's website, HERE! I didn't have to remove the display, just the bezel.

After you get to the microphone assembly you simply remove the 2 screws holding it (I forgot to mention this in the next pictures, but I'm sure most of you figured that out):

Before drilling, measure like in the first picture and use a thin marker where you should drill the first (small) hole. Use the 1st to drill the first hole. Use the 2nd to make that hole larger and at the end use the 3rd (biggest) drill to round the edges a little:

    The result:

I have to thank zuck for assuring me that I don't need another cable. I wouldn't have done this otherwise.

Hope others will use my guide.

    Cheers!

Great drilling job. Am almost motivated to cleanup my 'off center' hole.

Are you able to get the Advanced Video FX to load? (Advanced Audio FX is functional) Mine gives an error message. The USB camera I used before was also Creative. Tried updating from Creative and Dell without success.

My 3yr old likes to play with the effects. Can still do it on the other System with USB camera.

Not much of a fan, but I'll give it a try on that Dell file. ;)

Are the webcams for vista built laptops different from the webcams for xp built laptops?

My webcam just will not work under XP but works fine under vista.

Nope. Don't think so. Try another driver.

zuck, funny software. It works. I just had to install Dell's driver from over HERE! and then it worked like a charm.

Got it to work on 1500 too. Had to roll back the driver to Dell R155105 (version 1.0) for the installed USB Camera v1.4.

Kids love it. Desktop App, Skype and ooVoo.
