The used but guaranteed working ones, I saw some for $50 that includes the board inside the lower base, including the palm rest for the E6400.

It will take you a good 1 hour to dismantle the whole thing, but it could be worth extra $10 to save some time.

And always welcome man. Homies here helped me a ton with my over heating E6400. Gotta pay back.

I saw those, I had a problem with a refurbished one so that's why I was wary of them. I'll decide soon enough :p I bought a supposed Nvidia E6400 motherboard but they sent me the intel one. I realized after I replaced it so that was annoying but at least they didn't bother me when I wanted a refund. That's why I have a credit and I just don't want another issue with function or chipset.

The link I gave you, definitely check that it is Nvidia board. Also double ask if it is REALLY Dell refurbished. Many sellers call seller refurbished as manufacturer refurbished. And often when you explicitly ask, they dodge and don't reply. Just so you know.

    Nobody be fooling Mr. Dellienware.

I just got the M2400 motherboard in the mail today and installed it. In order to get my system working properly I need to enter the service tag. Will the E6400 service tag on the bottom of the laptop work with this M2400 motherboard?

My understanding is you can put in any number for the tag. It really won't matter anyways since your tag is registered as E6400, not M2400. But in regards to if you are allowed, as per terms and conditions, I am not sure.

I don't care about terms and conditions, I just want it to work properly. However it only seems to affect the battery and charging. Since the E6400 and M2400 are sisters I think I should be ok.

Edit: Now it POSTs properly but when I boot from the hard drive it hangs at Intel Matrix Boot Manager for a minute or two then tells me to select the appropriate configuration for my computer. Apparantly the change is not reversible so I do not want to mess it up. The choices are:
    1) AMT_DASH_VPRO
    2) N/A (choosing this does nothing)
    3) MANAGEABILITY ENGINE (ME) DISABLED
    4) AMT_DASH_VPRO: NO_TLS (NOT FOR USA)
    5) AMT NONE

What do I do? If I mess this up I might ruin my brand new motherboard.

Did you check the proper settings for the HDD in the bios? I really can't comment much here.

When my tech replaced my E6400 mobo, there was some kind of trial and error settings he had to go through to see if it "works." Nothing was threat to the mobo though in my case.

But I can't really comment much here. Im a hardware guy, not good with softwares.

What's the proper setting? The default is IRRT. There's also disable, AHCI, and ATA. I think ATA might be it but I'm not sure.

Edit: I found a post elsewhere saying to choose 3 to disable it. That made it work so it seems I'm all set for now.

Edit Edit: Windows blue screens after the loading sequence.

Mine was at IRRT (Intel) setting. Only needed AHCI for SSD.

Did you try reinstalling the OS?
