Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to put out this very helpful guide. Having all of the essential drivers listed in order really helped me create a nice clean install minus all of the Dell Crapware.

    Thanks again!

    Folks,

For minimum clean install anything I can skip from the list on page 2? My configuration is same as Valm, except more memory and 256 GB SSD and 750GB hard drive, rest is all standard configuration.

    Thx

In case this is not too late (improbable though but anyway), you don't need to install anything from number 10, depending obviously on whether you want to use those features or not.
Install number 22 (bios) too. Some say it is better to install it before anything else, but if will depend on how good or bad is the last bios version I presume.

About ALPS touchpad (driver #11 in the first post).
I do not like how it works. :(
Especially in comparison with Synaptics (such as the M6400).
Normal scrolling (a strip of the right side of the touchpad). This strip is not always "scrolling". So behave ALPS...
I was tired and looked for a replacement (in terms of replacement drivers).
    I tried over 20 drivers.
All Dell drivers. Drivers Sony, Lenovo, HP ...
Drivers from the Sony did not work at all. Others do not work well with the trackpoint. Etc, etc...

In the end I found the driver. Not without flaws, but for now this driver suits me. :)
This is the latest drivers for Toshiba Tekra r850:

If anyone has similar problems (and I think that the way it is) - you can try...
Scrolling works as it should! Without gaps.
So far found only one drawback: trackpoint tap does not work (as a left mouse click).

    Best Regards, Alex.
And sorry for my English - it is not my native language.

PS. Torai, Thank You for this thread!

I need to get an extra power adapter.

    The 240 watt M17x/M6600 one is $120.
The 330 watt M18x/X51 one is only $99.

It makes sense to get the one for $99, I know my M6600 is not going to draw more than 220 watts. Thoughts???
