so what notebook will you use to bring to uni now?

personally i bought the M4400 for business class support, build quality, and performance. also a must have for me was WUXGA resolution.the latitude had too weak a GPU, so m4400 was the logical choice

    was considering the M4400,

    elitebook 8530-too expensive in malaysia/singapore

studio 17-dint want consumer grade, also quite large

vostro 17-was about to buy it until i found out that dell had mislabeled the graphics card, they were saying it had a 8600GT DDR3, but in reality it had a 8600GS DDR3

    acer aspire 6930-too narrow screen
acer aspire 8930-nice but exceeds airline weight limits lol....

its my main machine and i cant be without a notebook, so based on the brilliant experience i had with my inspiron 8600 and latitude D610 i decided to go for a business class dell for the reasons i quoted...

I know you're going to defend it because you own it, and I would too, but do you REALLY travel so much that you need a portable computer? You're always on this forum, how often do you actually "work"?

I'm going to be taking an old Inspiron laptop thats 17" and just as fast the M4400, a bit bulky but I only need it for my C++ class so it will sleep in my locker so no one sees me with it lol.

i7 will be in notebooks during summer it will probably cost quite a bit though :D

No matter how many ways you slice it the M6400 is more powerful especially in GPU as the 2700 can roast a 770m and the 3700 has more streams then the 9800 gtx its interesting but i didnt notice a single RGB LED display...

lol im practically drooling over the m6400 with the 3700....

i cant afford the higher spec m6400's though. and cant justify them either. would be cheaper to get a monster 17" sager to keep at home for gaming, and a netbook/12 inch ultraportable to bring out.

and yes RAM, i do travel a lot. imagine moving house every 3 months. and i've been doing this since 2003, and dont think im gonna settle down anytime soon. desktop would be a real ball and chains

They have some nicely spec'd m6400's in the Dell Outlet (i haven't seen any Covet's yet)... great prices too! (Though if you have access to Small/Medium/Large business account it may be similar)
    I am loving mine :)

only got funds for one notebook rite now unfortunately :(

i seriously considered the m6400, also the hp 8730 , studio 17 and the acer aspire 8930...

but portability was a concern ..... weight limit on emirates cabin luggage is 7kgs, so i decided to go with a 15" form factor

p.s. emirates FTW.....its as good as singapore airlines but cheaper and had a better frequent flier programme lol....i love chilling out in the business class lounge in dubai...they have an open bar and good food lol

its always nice to have a breakfast of veal sausages and champagne :p

yeah I see your point, I am not sure I would lug my laptop around the world with me. Agreed with Emirates (though I haven't tried Singapore airlines) - their economy seats/service are like most airlines business class.
