I am now joining this lounge. Woot!

    I ordered my M6400 on October 3rd.
    Here are the specs:
    Core 2 Duo Extreme X9100 3.06 GHz
    4.0 GB DDR3 1066 2DIMMS
    Quadro 2700M 512MB
    HDD-160GB 7200RPM FFS
    LCD WUXGA 17in Screen w/camera
    Fingerprint Reader
XP Pro 64bit w/ Business Bonus Downgrade

    Expected ship date- Nov. 3rd...
The ship date is the only thing that makes me a little sad.

So has any unit been delivered yet?
Does anyone have any first impressions, laptop living up to expectations and such?

I ordered my on 9/30 and my estimated ship date is 10/29. I can't wait. I have a M6300 now with dual core extreme, but really wanted the 6400 for the extra ram. Here are the specs on what I ordered...

    QX9300 (Quad core extreme)
    8GB RAM(2Dimms)
    1GB NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M
80GB Primary and 160 GB Secondary
    WUXGA LCD w/ Webcam
    Vista 64-bit
    Bluetooth
    Slot load DVD
    Fingerprint reader
    E/Port Plus Dock

My order status has said "In Production" for over a week. I'm really hoping it will ship as planned.

I have my M6400 now, here are some pics:

Side by side with my old E1705. The width and depth is the exact same as the E1705.

Darth Vader called, he want's the AC adapter to the Death Star back... E1705 adapter is on the right.

Here is the thickness as compared to the E1705. The top and bottom halves of the M6400 are metal.

Here you can see that the M6400 is just a tiny bit slimmer than the E1705.

Top view, you can see the swipe fingerprint reader near the screen. The two speakers are also visible through the perforated metal bezel. The perforated metal bezel that runs along the top is slightly dented and just snapped on to the body of the laptop. When I took it out of the box I had to push one of the snaps down to lock it.

Light up keyboard, I had to turn off the flash...

    Again

    The keyboard is nice

    Here it is up close

Here is the bottom, Dell did away with all the stickers, they are under the battery now...

I ran 3DMark06 and scored 9989 points. This is with the P8400 CPU and FX3700 w/original Dell drivers. The fans are pretty quiet, they definitely do not whine and they turn on and off as needed.

I already had 3 blue screen crashes caused by the OA001vid.sys driver, that is the driver for the built in web cam. That's a real bummer because there are no newer drivers available than what I have. The speakers sound ok and I'm pretty happy with they build quality except for the cheezy metal bezel along the top edge, it looks and feels cheap. There are also no media keys like play/pause, fwd, and back. Only volume up and down. Dell really kept this design all business...

I'v got my baby in hands today, with FX 3700M 1GB and RGBLED WUXGA. The brick-like AC adaptor is as amazing as the M6400 it self. It's so huge.....!!!
