    Is the M4600 backlit keyboard sensitive to ambient lighting? Does it always turn on?

    like i said twice already, there does not seem to be an ambient light sensor, however you can control the brightness level, or switch it off completely. definitely a step back

    I am using 5550. I find it useful. However the simcard is even more difficult to take out compared to M4400/4500. There is no guide or icon or sticker to tell where to install the simcard, so just figure out by yourself. I leave the simcard inside all the times.

    GPS... I am not using that so no comment.

    for the WWAN card, personally i dont order laptops with them because cellular tech is always moving and here in the UK u get better data+call plans, so i always tether my phone, via USB or bluetooth

    its alright, i just said that there does not seem to be an ALS so it applies to both...i searched for the past 2 hours and couldnt find that functionality :(

    Thanks for your help. So the backlit on your keyboard is always on, isn't it? Can the keyboard backlit be turned off?

    There are 3 choices for the keyboard backlit, on, off, turn off after a set time and turn back on when a key is pressed. You should be able to toggle between the 3 by pressing the FN+Right key.
