choose Standard Base for RGB LCD and that will limit display to IPS RGB LCD only(and to NVIDIA Quadro 2000M as well). by the way, advanced and essential do not allow to choose backlit keyboard. which is kind of strange for advanced models to exclude such desirable option. Build from base model if you want one. it is also saying "no integrated camera and microphone", while all the pictures are showing it. My only guess, online ordering on UK website is in a state of chaos. check it out:
256GB 2.5inch Serial ATA III Solid State Drive [add £999,999.99 or £68/month-1].
I would better call them with configuration you want
PS my bad, it is only base model that have no integrated camera. but then again, advanced and essential model do not have option to choose backlit keyboard. weird.

    Hi there,

I am really hesitating... Could you really confirm that nobody got more than 3.5 hours from the 9 cell battery?! Strange... Unfortunately this is a real deal barker for me.

(If this is the case I would go for a W520 instead, although I really miss the numpad...)

Does anybody know when can we get a notebookreview detailed review?

No, unless you mean an external USB3.0 or eSata

I can get more than 5 out of mine, probably near 6, depends on what specs you get

It is common for a tiny amount of RAM to be taken up by the system. I don't know exactly why (but have some theories on it), but on both my laptops they show a tiny bit less (~0.3 %) of less RAM than I know is installed. I don't believe it is being used by the video, but I've been wrong before. ;)

Yes, depending on what you have for hardware, *particularly* your vid card and CPU (faster memory would also come into play), you will naturally draw more power. Sandy Bridge is a big leap forward, compared to the earlier generations, but it is not the total solution. If we beef up all our components to the max, their is a wattage price to pay in the end.

Yes, the BUS-System for example uses some RAM as well. It is normal, that you can use always a little less than you installed.
Normally, the graphics-card wont use system memory. But it will, if the graphics-ram is insufficient.

Yes, I could see that there is a small difference in dual core i5 T520 and quad core i7 T520. But only around 20% in battery time. Between the M4600 and a similar i7 W520, same VGA, similar battery, and there is 50% difference. Suspicious... What is wrong?!

Is there anybody with a M4600, WLED screen, Optimus, and 97Wh battery, who could kill all unnecessary processes and can do a battery lifetime test?

I cannot belive that the M4600 is soo bad in comparison with the Lenovo W520. Can it be unoptimized drivers or power management? I would be happy, as then there can be some improvements later on.

Mine M4600 with FirePro does exactly the same, I was speaking to Dell support and they said it's known issue with VGA cooler, and it should be corrected with bios update. For me only fix is not to use air conditioning so the cooler can just work all the time but with very little noise which is wayyyy less annoying than this spin up, spin down, spin up, spin down
