Hi - running 16gb at the moment but 32gb for £96 is a bargain so I've taken your part number (GS316GB1600C10DC) and taken the plunge.

    Anyone want my 16gb?

Hello! I bought the Dell Precision M4600 laptop (videocard ati5950) and I had 3 questions:
    1. At connection to the Dell 2007fp monitor it is not possible to establish permission 1600*1200.
    2. Additional auxiliary buttons (to switch off a sound to reduce and increase loudness) don't work. Can any program is necessary?
    3. Indicators under these buttons (wi-fi activation, operating modes, etc.) aren't shone. Probably as any program is necessary?
I ask to help to solve to me these questions. Thanks.

Does anyone have pros and cons on updating to Windows 8? I've been running Vista forever, and it's gotten to the point that I *have* to upgrade the OS. I was wondering if upgrading to Win 8 was asking for too much trouble and I just need to stick to Win 7, or if my old M6400 could handle Win8.

Hi, received the 4 x 8gb modules, first two working fine in primary slots, but when I put the others in the secondary slots I get random windows blue screen errors so I've stuck with 2x8gb in primary and 2x4gb in secondary and it seems stable.

Any thoughts on what to do regarding the secondary?

    Working on Windows 8 x64.

    Ta

    Chris.

Also - Windows is reporting the speed as 1333 but I'm running 1600 - not sure if this is an issue or not.

You might have a bad module. Download a memory test tool like Memtest86 to check. Any errors at all indicates a problem.

As for the speed, with mismatched modules you might not get them to lock in on the top speed. Does it report 1333 even when all four modules are the same? Or if you use just two 8GB module by themselves?

Thanks, I'll try that this evening if I find time - does the tool run at boot?

Pretty sure it reported 1600 when I had the 4x4gb modules in, now I've 2x8gb in primary and 2x4gb in secondary and it's reporting 1333, not sure what it said when I had 4x8gb in there as it didn't get far past booting.

It is a bootable tool, you can burn a CD to boot from (or make a bootable USB device if you don't have an optical drive).

What is max ram speed I can install on a M4600 with i7 2760QM? There are Kingston 2133 sodimm sticks out there but according to Dell max speed is 1600. If I buy a pair of these (8gb total), will the ram run at full speed or it's only XM processors that support such speeds?

You should be able to use DDR3-1600 modules.
