    Hi Tom,

why don't you try last optimised drivers 296.70 for Quadro video cards. In my system that is similar to yours they work properly. Moreover our M4600 is able to manage an eGPU (Geforce gtx570OC in my case) with latest Geforce drivers.

Does anyone know how I can install regular catalyst drivers for the M5950?

Diablo 3 is having issues with the latest FirePro drivers :(

Bump...please...also what temps are you folks getting, so I have a reference? Compared to my desktops, the CPU temps are hotter and graphics cooler.

I'm surprised by the difference between graphics and gaming graphics; my 3000M gets 7.1 in both (7.3 if I overclock it).

Are you sure you installed the appropriate drivers for the NVidia card? If you disable Optimus it shouldn't fall back into a lower resolution.

I'd expect CPU temps to be hotter than desktops, and possibly graphics as well (tried running SPECviewperf?). At cool, my CPU is ~55 degrees, and has gotten > 90 degrees at heave load. T Junction is 100 degrees for my chip.

    Thanks msjgriffiths.

Did not reformat, optimized. See other thread. All drivers are Dell installed and updated. My CPU temps about same as yours, but GPU lower, so that sounds good. Got spoiled with desktop XEONs running 25C idle on air (I like fans). Your 3000M has much better bandwidth and a few more cores, so you should have better numbers there. Remember, no B cards in the Pro 15"s. Using AIDA64 (Everest) to monitor. Used Memtest and IBT to stress test. All solid there. IT Guy out until Monday, but will have another hack buddy at work do quick check of graphics tonight. Will probably use 24/7 tonight as well if not to busy. Still have to make gate in the morning.

P.S. SPECview will come into play when CAD/Engineering software is installed. Still need to determine if "Certified" drivers are preferred over the latest. When calling about Student Versions, I get diverted attention with the vendors, do to the lack of support for these products.

my Firepro gets a 6.7 WEI score for the GPU and Gaming

    7.5 for CPU and Memory

    7.9 for Hard Drive

not too bad for this laptop.

GPU temps around 56 with normal usage fans low.

CPU Temps 25 with normal use.

Status: WEI difference Optimus off...Graphics 6.9 (was 5.8 - resolution resolved), Gaming Graphics remained 6.9. Observed IBT and AIDA64 run...CPU temps ranged 47C cold idle to 84C at full cook (T-Junction is 100C), multiplier 8-33...GPU 41C-60C, DIMM never exceeded 46C. Boot time 33-35 secs with 101 processes in start-up (Win, Office and CS5.5), may reduce just to see what if.

Almost there, but me likeee. :)
