hey everyone, I am about to buy a Precision M4600, who can tell me how the 6-cell battery is holding up? I am going to go with a 2.3. GHz Quad Core, quadro 2000 and the non-IPS panel, so Optimus should work.

Wenn du dir den Quad Core leisten kannst, kannst du dir auch den 9-Zellen-Akku leisten, oder? Ich hab auch den 9-Zellen Akku bei meinem Dual-Core. :p

(If you can afford a quad core, you can also afford a 9-cell battery.)

I am experiencing a few issues with my M4600. There is some lcd flickering that appears when I login on the welcome screen, immediately after that the monitor also flickers when the desktop just appears and then the flicker fades out. It's like the interferences on CRT monitors due to mobile phones, but it only happens in the instants I cited. I didn't give much importance, but ran the Dell diagnostic tests anyways. I got this error during the video fan test :
    error code
    2000-0511
    Validation 51874

    BIOS thermal fan 2 stopped
    DIAG: fail PSA V4206
    ERROR 2000:0511
the video fan failed to respond correctly.

After I got this error message I ran again the tests a few more times and no errors were reported, the video fan worked correctly. The tiny amount of flickering persists nonetheless.

Seems like the fan is flakey, personally I'd call support before the warranty runs out, because I know the day after it expires so will your fan controller.

Well, as a student, I try to save money whereever I can, and the battery is one of the less-important aspects in my opinion, but if the price difference is negligible anyway, yeah, then you are right ;) I asked my DELL rep how much the 9 cell battery would cost compared to the 6 cell version, I'm still awaiting an answer.

    Hi,

Just got my M4600 this week.

Anybody know what the DMC port is for at the bottom of the unit ? This is the empty slot next to the Wlan mini card.

    Thanks.

notebookcheck had posted review on M4600. too bad they did not review or commented on IPS screen quality. seems like a lot of complains about it lately.

    Hi, dear M4600 users,

Anyone uses Kingston HyperX PnP 8 GB Kit (2x4GB Modules) 1866MHz DDR3? How is the performance?

Anyone uses Crucial 512 GB m4 SSD SATA 6Gb/s? Does it really worth it?

    Any response is appreciated.
    Thanks!
