When I compare your post and his post for value to this thread, I actually find his has more. At least his has some relevance to the m4500.

    Thanks for this.

It's strange that Dell doesn't let you order the encrypted 256GB SSD for the M4500. It's available for the M6500 though.

Just curious - are you able to use the M4500 with a Dell 90W AC adapter? How about the even lower one (65W, I think)?

I have lots of those hanging around the house and office, so it's nice to have AC available wherever I am without always bringing the 130W AC.

I did just that and didn't have problems. Last night, I accidentally plugged the adapter from an E6400 into the m4500. I didn't realize it until I rebooted about 4 hours later and got a message that I was using the wrong adapter and it would take longer to recharge the battery and I should change settings in the BIOS if I wanted to continue to use a different adapter.

Now I'm worried that I'm going to accidentally plug the 130 into the E6400. They should have different signed connectors so that can't happen.

It will do no damage to plug a larger power adapter into the machine. As long as the voltage is correct the adapter can't "push" more power into the machine then what it needs. You could get a 1000 watt adapter as long as the voltage was correct. When the voltage changes thats when they change the output tips so you can't plug them in.

    Has anyone either:
    (1) ordered the M4500 WITH the Gobi card and located where it's mounted in the machine

    (2) ordered the 4500 WITHOUT the Gobi card and upgraded with your own *internal* PCIE mobile broadband card

Any guidance on either of these would be very much appreciated. Apologies if this has already been discussed in the thread (though I searched quickly).

+1. No one appreciates your constant trolling, Pirx.

I talked to my own Dell rep, who was not able to confirm this information. Of course, like any good company, one rep will be right out of hundred, so we'll see what's up by early June I suppose.

This caught my eye: HYYM9 -Kit 2nd 120GB SATA (5400RPM) Hard Drive. It was interesting because he also has listed that he is getting a 500gb drive as part of his configuration. I thought the M4500 could only support the mini card SSD + a regular size drive, not two regular size drives.

Why don't you wait until you have contributed something to this forum before you presume to speak for everybody, let alone accuse me of "trolling". Just a thought.

You are right, that is interesting. Of course, kind of hard to filter that information out of the noise. ;)
