I also have the same problems. The only (quick and dirty) solution I found:
    removed the harddisk
    install windows to the ssd
    install drivers to the ssd
    online update
    insert the harddisk
change path from pictures, docs, music or what you want to the harddisk

    regards,
    Dirk

FWIW, Win7 was reinstalled without any Control Point and without other stuff. Now, the display does not "blink".

Does anyone have any idea if Dell will offer ATI M5800 on the M4500?

    I very much doubt that.

Why? HP has it. Not arguing, just wondering why it is doubtful.

That's what I ended up doing. There were actually two issues I hit. One is that the boot device order list in the BIOS wasn't working right after switching to ACPI. It always was trying to boot from the conventional drive first even though the SSD was still showing as first in the BIOS list. The boot list was also showing the SSD twice for some reason. Those problems went away when I edited and saved the list (editing it seemed to fix the corruption). But then even though the boot order was working right, the Windows install kept on insisting on putting a 100MB boot partion on the conventional drive even though I was installing the OS to the SSD. I think that was because the conventional drive is drive 0 in the bios and the SSD is drive 1. So I did the same thing as you did and just pulled the conventional HD out for the initial install.

I think because M4400 didn't have ati card, just two nvidias and because if they were going to offer ati they would have already done it.
But it is my personal opinion :)
