Does this laptop use an MXM video card (is it upgradeable)?

MXM doesn't necessarily imply upgradability. Typically Dells are upgradeable but only with their own GPUs, so if you've already maxed out on the FX 1800M, you won't be able to go any higher.

Unfortunately that driver is only for the SD-Card-Reader and it works fine there.

I am looking for something like that:
    Downloads

    but for the M4500.

    thanks in advance

To the Question of the upgrade of the graphics.....
Also Users of the Quadro 880m can only upgrade to the 1800M if the card is NOT soldered on the mainboard.

EOM - I received an email from Dell with a 35% off coupon. When I configured the system, it was too good to be true. The price I posted includes nearly $100 sales tax, shipping and three years pro support.

Is that a one-time only code or can anyone use it? If so, any chance you could share it? Thanks in advance

It was only good for about two days and it expired but if I get another one, I'll let you know.

I have received my m4500 on friday. I like the machine in general but I have been experiencing problems with the touchpad/pointstick.

I was having a jerky experience with pointstick and the touchpad until I killed a few processes. I do not know witch process exactly made the difference, but things are much smoother now. I have since then uninstalled many dell programs, so I'm not even sure I can reproduce this particular behavior.

The other problem I have with these is hyper-sensitivity. For some reason, just as I type this post, it generates click without me even touching either of those. When I do a real click using the higher buttons (the ones to used with the pointstick), it often turns to double click.

This hyper-sensitivity problem is very annoying. I am running the latest touchpad software from the dell site. Has anyone else experienced the same problems?

Does the M4500 have the same substandard speakers and mouse pad as the M4400?

I like my M4400 but the speakers have always sounded bad, even for laptop speakers. The mouse track pad has also always been buggy. Have these issues been addressed in the M4500?

Also, is the 1800M just an overclocked 880M? Just like the 1700M was an overclocked 770M in the previous model.

    Thanks

    Speakers are better.

    Trackpad is better.

1800M is more than just an overclocked 880M.

According to Nvidia home page both have the same mempory, 1 GB DDR 3 with bandwidth of 25.6 GB/sec.
Reading from their specification page the only thing that differes is the CUDA-Core (1800M has 72 CUDA cores, 880M has 48 CUDA cores). A CUDA core is a Stream processor, a Multi Processor can run 8 Stream processors: this means 1800M has 9 MP and 880M has 6 MP.
