any info on the controller used in the M4500 64gb SSD minicard?

as my E6410 got cancelled i'm considering to switch over to a M4500 due to the larger real estate (1920x1080 might come in VERY handy for cad work) and the support for pcie SSD minicards (no half-assed ultrabay solutions required)

My M4500 has the 820QM and the FX880. I do get the BIOS warning when using a 90W.

I'd would like to know if you can get away with the 90W if you have an i5...

In device manager the 'Generic CardBus Controller' has a PCI Vendor ID of 1180, which is Ricoh.

Yes, it works fine. I have this and I've used it in an E6400, M4400, & now an M4500.

Dell makes the optical drives interchangeable between any model in the same Latitude line. Any D-Series drive worked in any D-Series laptop, and any E-Series drive will work in any E-Series laptop. The M4400/M4500's are really just E6500/E6510's with better graphics cards.

Thanks, I found this USB 3.0 Express, with some luck there will be a more slim version in the future. How ever I can't tell anything about the speed (japanese website), if it will be able to deliver 4.8 Gbps.
Maybe there is a limitation in the EC slot?

Newegg (US based) has a card:

They say "Data Rates: 5.0 gig"

Hey, everyone! Would the Quadro FX 1800M be suitable for someone looking to play games like Modern Warfare 2, Starcraft 2, and World of Warcraft? I'm helping a friend look for a laptop, and we pretty sure he's going to end up with the precision m4500. We just want to make sure it would be suitable both for his studies and his entertainment.

Also, is it worth spending an extra $20 to get the wireless Ultimate-N 6300 over the Advanced-N 6200?

    Thanks!

the 6300 has a 3rd antenna and should get igher transfer rates and range; the FX1800M is based on the GT335 and shuld be enough to play MW2; Starcraft and WOW at medium-high (depends on the game) settings at decent framerates

If it helps, I have an M4400 with the somewhat less powerful FX 1700M and I can run WoW at 1680x1050 at max-settings and 2x AA and never drop under 30 FPS in Dalaran.
