Anyone know what the lower chassis runs from dell? I am missing the rear feet, and it is driving me insane... that and I have a giftcard coming from buying a battery.

On mine I just used some rubber feet that came with a 48-port switch. They are about 1/4" tall and raise the backed end up a tad. The nice thing about it is the slight tilt to that machine which makes typing easier and slightly lower temps from increased airflow. Unless you are stuck on OEM rubber feet, maybe something from OfficeMax, Home Depot, Walmart, etc., might work for you.

    Just a thought.

I want to upgrade my M4500 to include the Intel 6300 (3x3) wireless card.
Do all M4500 come with 3 antennas or do you only get the 3 antennas when you order it with the 6300 from the factory?

    thanks in advance.

Not 100% on this, because mine came with the 6300 already. That being said, I'm pretty sure they come fully loaded antenna wise, cause even the non-gobi latitudes from the same generation came with the cellular antennas. Just pop off the bottom cover and the right side panel and you should see. (Right side from the bottom up view)

I've just bought this router and wonder if someone could advise me of the best wifi card to buy for my M4500 to give it 5.0 GHz?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CEB53MS/ref=pe_385721_37038051_TE_dp_2

    I currently have a DW1520 half-mini card.

I see the post above about "3 antennas" but don't understand anything about that.

(I can't get the thread search to work, therefore have to post this Q.)

    Hi guys,

could anyone tell me what graphics cards people have successfully put into this laptop?

I have a potentially nice deal on an m4500 and was just wondering how far I could take it upgrade-wise.

    Thanks.

The best GPU offered for the M4500 was the FX1800M, but it's soldered to the motherboard, so you can't change it by itself.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone, which supports USB 3.0. The phone does not automatically connect using USB 3.0. It has to be manually switched into USB 3.0 mode and I will only stay there temporarily, after which it switches back into USB 2.0 mode. I have noticed that it charges from my laptop very slowly in USB 2.0 mode. According to usbdeview, in USB 2.0, the charging current is 96 ma and it switches up 4x to 384 ma in USB 3.0 mode, if it can be believed. I am wondering they charging current is so low and if there is a setting anywhere that can be used to change it.

I have two M4500s. One of them is being used occasionally by my brother, the other I use for screen-capturing 24/7.

Yesterday I suddenly got this warning that my power adapter wasn't recognised, and that I should use a 130-amp adapter - but that's exactly what I was using, Dell brand.

    sWaK2Y1.jpg

The message kept popping up so I swapped the power adapter with the one my brother is using and everything went OK... until my brother said that his M4500 was complaining about the battery not charging. I ended up ordering him a new battery.

Then, just now, an alarm pipes out from my M4500 and this notice pops up (faint, cos I only just caught it):

    3HH0Rp2.jpg

I unplugged the power adapter and left it for a couple of minutes, then re-plugged back in, by which time the battery was at 8%, charging. Now it's at 20%, charging.

A few weeks ago the laptop went into ? hibernation (I don't know the difference between that and sleep or any other suspended mode) because the battery was low.

I think that in early Windows 7 days there was a related battery recognition problem which was rectified by a Microsoft update - do you think a recent Windows Update could have caused the problem to 'resurge'?

Can anyone shed light on why this should happen simultaneously with two Precision M4500s? It looks as though I've wasted money, buying a new battery

    Semi dumb question time!

I have an m4500 w/ an i5 and fx880m. Looking to upgrade the CPU to a quad i7, what is the standard minimum charger for that? I have a docking station and >=120W charger at home, but looking to get the smallest sufficient charger for taking to class. 90W?
