    :( Doesn't look too good for any serious audio work. Still not in the red but anything over 1000 should be of concern. Somehow Dell laptops seem to have a lot of issues with this. I've been able to iron out mine on the M4400 but i'll never buy another system that could, even remotely, have the chance of high DPC latency probs. Other laptops are running with max between 100-200 which is where it should be, Dell should take a serious look at this so their products can be used for audiowork again......and use TI chipsets instead of the crappy Ricoh stuff.

    Hey LPTP-LVR :) , wouldn't anybody serious about audio work use an aftermarket sound card like you do anyway? aside from latency, I would have thought S/N, dynamic range etc etc wouldn't be up to scratch either, you use an Indigo don't you?

    Lol true. I do happen to have an Indigo but haven't used it in years. The line-out was crackling and felt loose pretty fast so then i bought an E-mu 1616m (cardbus version). Even when using an outboard card a high DPC latency can still cause issues. Not in audio latency which is a different thing altogether but the pops and clicks and stuff are not easily solved if they're there. In my M4400 they were nearly gone after an update for Intel IMSM but only completely when they changed that to the Intel Rapid Storage Manager. The DPC latency is such an apparantly random mix of possible causes that it can get extremely frustrating if you really need to get rid of it. Other might have a high DPC but never really notice anything.

    If i had known this all before i maybe wouldn't have bought the M4400 but gone with a safer bet. Especially since buying as a business in the Netherlands you don't have the same rights as consumers. There is no return period at all since businesses are expected to investigate what they're buying into before taking that step. Sure, big businesses probably do but i'm just by myself and can only go on reviews and such.
    Hmmmm....since they're the ones applying this rule, maybe i should ask for a testing session next time i'm buying, how else can i know what i'm getting eh? ;)

    the result aren't that good but i'm sure all the tweaks havent been made before (wifi disabled , power scheme proaudio .....) if it's the case , well it's a serious problem ....
    for the ricoh chipset , they work pretty well , my hp 8710w has a dpc latency at 35us (yes 35 !!) and the ricoh chipset is able to handle my fireface 400 + a duende fully loaded with a single problem ....it's just a t7700 , under than that it's just crazy !!

    anymore results

    by the way thks for shari,ng and yes for the wprime it's a good idea , but with this latency the results will not be optimal , people don't give the importance of dpc latency even for non audio video while it is !!

    All results above are pretty good but you should be able to get that without any real optimisation. Chosing between the M6500 or 8740W is down to personal preference i think, both are top-notch systems. The Ricoh chipsets aren't necessarily bad but when you find incompatibility issues or other problems with external soundcards, 9 out 10 times there's a Ricoh chip at the base of it :/

    @Jeezo

    Newest version of wprime did 32m in 19 secs avg in 5 runs, which seems around what it should be for an i5-540m.Am I missing something?

    No USB3.0
