You should not have any problems running dual U2711s via DP connections at max resolution.

    Hi there,

I see many of guys have the RGBLED screen on your M4400. How do you guys rate the screen? Does the screen cause eye strain after long periods of usage? One user mentioned screen flickering. Is that normal for all RGBLED screens or just an isolated case?

    Thank you

I have the RGB LED display and I've experienced no flickering.

The color gamut capability is quite impressive and I've calibrated the display using a colorimeter. I managed to get more subdued colors (especially in the red range).

One point of contention is the rather limited viewing angles without some degradation in the color accuracy.

Besides that, I can't really think of any significant issues with the panel.

It is a glossy panel, but I have not had too many issues with glare. I prefer matte displays...

I had mine replaced due to display issues and the new one has a 2cclf LG panel (previous was a WXGA+). I'm finding it "grainy" - anyone one else have this issue? From browsing the forums, the LG was the good one.

I found a dead sub-pixel on my WXGA+ LCD. Can I ask Dell for replacement? Is there any guarantee of zero dead pixels from Dell?

I *think* that they'd require more than one based on recent conversations I've had with them.

The ones that I've gotten replaced had clusters of dead pixels, areas the size of a fruit fly on the screen - so that's got to be like well over 10 in a small area.

Is the M4400 WUXGA RGB LED TrueLife screen a glossy screen?

I like the Matte screens so I wanted to make sure.

    Thanks

    Hi all

I got my M4400 with a down grade to windows xp (32bit) from vista, this was before windows 7 was released. Apart from 3d, animation and graphics work I do on the laptop I also use it to play games in my off time.

Under xp the games play very well with good to high graphics settings, the laptop would get very hot sometimes but I never had any down clocking of gpu or cpu (e.g. no lag and high FPS).

A little after windows 7 64bit was released Dell sent me my copy and I did the update. I found after this my laptop was running really bad during high 3d load (eg games and 3d renders), I thought at first this was due to me just doing a windows update and not a full install. As I was in the middle of a heap of work I did not worry about doing a reinstall and just put up with the slow downs.

In the last week I've had the time to do a full format and reinstall following the pdf from dell's driver download page that outlines the correct driver and software stack. I even installed the dell software as well just to make sure.

I'm still getting the same slow down after 5-10mins of game play making the games unplayable and the system itself is slow after I exit for a while.

So to the main questions are any of you playing games (like Battlefield Bad Company 2, through Steam) on a dell m4400 windows 7 64bit without issues?

And am I right in thinking that under xp my system had now built in downclocking due to heat, but now under win7 it does and that could be why I'm getting the slow down?

    thanks all :)

System: Dell M4400: windows 7 64bit, Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo, Quadro FX 770m, 4Gb RAM, BIOS A24...

Never Mind the attack of dust is what has caused it... Did not know you had to remove the fan to see the dust on the grill...... all good all done :)
