Precision 7730 will cancel the E-Port DOCK interface

    The new generation will use a new TB18 dock that has 2 side by side TB3 connections that will match corresponding ports on the 7730 and 7530 notebooks. This will allow for sufficient power delivery to completely power the laptop through the dock similar to how the TB16 and WD15 work today with the 55x0 series. I agree the E-Port was nice and effective but this should scale better as long as they can keep the dock reliable. Reliability issues with the TB16 are very well documented unfortunately. The E-Port dock is essentially just wires and plastic, no logic chips involved. The TB dock has multiple logic chips in the datapath which are all possible points of failure - including the active TB cable.
