Announced today at CES! Can't find more than this CES blog post:

The world of virtual reality is expanding in near-infinite directions and the creative pioneers driving all this content need the best tools. Enter the Dell Precision 7720 mobile workstation—Dell’s first VR-ready mobile workstation designed specifically for VR content creation. It’s Dell’s most powerful mobile workstation, thanks to the latest 7th Gen Intel Core and Intel Xeon processors and NVIDIA Pascal Quadro professional graphics. Like all Dell Precision workstations, it’s developed specifically to work with and optimize the latest software suites, and – since it’s a mobile workstation – you can now develop VR content from anywhere you find inspiration.

Pricing and Availability: Dell Precision 7720 VR-ready mobile workstation will be available on Dell.com in the U.S. starting at $1,699.

EDIT: I found this blurb on their web site, but below it said availability starting Feb 28

so far seems that GPU is where the 7720 differs from 7710? Even though I don't know specs of pascal quadro, they must be comparable at least to the GeForce but with up to 16GB VIDEO RAM!? I imagine that is for 8k displays? I'm still at 2 and 4k. Marketing seems to mention alot about VR content creators.

Just curious, how many VR content creators are there in this forum?

*I dig that RHEL 7.3 is supported via dell out of the box

    Okay, any photos?

Anyone else excited for Optane SSDs in 7730? "Get the hype going in the chat"

Will be interested in the specs for the mobile Quadro cards. I was expecting the Quadro P5000M to be in line with the GeForce 1070, based on the last few generations having the high-end mobile Quadro a bit below the top desktop card of the same generation... But with 16 GB of RAM (wow...) they would be crazy not to put it more in line with the GeForce 1080 in terms of shader count and clock speed. That would mean that they would be using larger-than-standard MXM cards in the Precision now. In any case, to soon to say, this is speculation on my part. The details will emerge in a few weeks, I'm sure.

Otherwise, from the specs (ports and etc.), it looks exactly like the 7710 with just refreshed CPU and GPU options. (As anticipated.) I imagine it will also look the same, Dell usually keeps the same design for two or three generations. Hope they fix the keyboard (Home/End keys)...

I thought that they might have added a second USB-C/Thunderbolt port (seems like it would be useful with USB-C becoming more common) but it looks like they did not.

I'm stashing away some cash every month but probably won't be able to afford to replace my M6700 with a brand new system until the 7740 is out. Bring on NVIDIA Volta!

    [Edit]
Actually looks like they still have some 6th gen Skylake Intel CPUs in there in addition to the new 7th gen Kaby Lake. Guess that might be to support Windows 7, as Windows 10 is the only platform supported by Microsoft on Kaby Lake.

interesting about kaby only working in win 10. seriously did not know that. I didn't think there was any difference of kaby and skylake other than size

I think Windows 7 may well work fine on Kaby Lake CPUs --- it is an x86 CPU, so why wouldn't it? It is just not "supported" by Microsoft. Not sure what that means, but one consequence may be that OEMs cannot install it for you. (Also, it is going to start getting harder to find drivers over the next generation or two.)

Windows 7 support (security updates) fully ends in three years anyway, time to start making plans to move on...

Boo, no changes to the keyboard layout.

I thought I had read that Kay Lake supported USB 3.1 natively, I noticed this has USB 3.0. Am I correct?

Kaby Lake does support USB 3.1 (not sure how many ports), but here I'm guessing only the USB-C port will get USB 3.1 support.
I think we should make a separate thread on the 7720 and not junk up the 7710 thread...

[Edit] Made new thread for Kaby Lake Precisions, http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...pre-release-discussion-5520-7520-7720.800132/.
