Thanks so much again. I have followed your advice and switched to AHCI/NVMe mode. Haven't tested it long enough to be sure it has fixed the issue, but from what you've said it seems like it will have done.

Now... Assuming the system is all working fine as it should now, do you think I should I leave it alone, or do all these updates?

What ControlVault Driver do you have installed? In Device Manager, I see 5.7.20.25.

Dell Download site has 5.7.21.28 dated 6/22/21

When I run Command Update does show any update for ControlVailt

I did check the Windows Update History and it shows the Dell - CVault - 2.7.20.25 was updated on 7/23/21. That is when I setup the 7760.

There are also 7/23 windows updates for:

    Broadcom - System - 5.7.1.7
    Broadcom - Proximity - 5.7.1.6
    Broadcom Corporation - Biometric - 5.7.14.4
    Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - MTD - 10.0.19041.21339
    Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Extension - 10.0.19041.1

I have done all of these except for the Dell/Alienware Delivery Application one. (I do not have that piece of software installed.)

did you use command update or updated manually? I am debating on updating the ControlVault via the download from the dell site.

I also just switched back to AHCI.

I did it straight from the site, I don't have Command | Update installed either. (I get email notifications for driver updates... You can set this up with an option at the bottom of the driver page.)

Just wanted to thank you again for your help.

I left the PC on last night and came down this morning and it was still on with no errors.

I do contract work and am completely dependent on this PC for my work, and also for a current building project we're doing on our house. I am absolutely screwed without it. I would have had no idea how to fix the problem, and I have no faith whatsoever in Dell tech support for issues like this. You have really saved me!

Thanks. I hadn't realised WR was off by default. I have disabled the feature in SA and enabled WR.

I checked and actually I don't see a new ControlVault download on the Dell site. The one that is up was posted in June. (So I guess I didn't install an update for this recently. I'm a bit mixed up since I've also been setting my old Precision 7530 up for repurposing and I've done lots of driver stuff on it.)
