Cost was ultimately the reason why I went for the Dell (and also you can't buy the Zbook G8 right now). I would rather say a few choice words at myself during disassembly than pay $2,000 extra.

As an FYI - and maybe this has already been discussed - You can't have ram only in slots C and D, it has to populate the A and B slots first or the thing won't even post. I upgraded my ram from the 8gb it came with under the KB and tried to put the two 32s in the slots under the back cover and no go.

I forgot to mention that Dell offers a document for the 7560 titled, "Re-imaging guide for Windows 10".

Which are slots A & B. Looking at the 7760 Service Manual, under the bottom cover are B and D. I got two DIMM and just checked in the bios and they are in slots A and C which would be under the keyboard. Also, looks like the manual calls the two slots under the back cover secondary memory module and under the keyboard is primary.

I had this problem when switching my old 7740 RAM into the 7760, I thought that it was some BIOS driver issue since I hadn't installed anything yet. But I indeed also had this issue; the annoying part was disassembling the computer to get under the keyboard a second time (the first time was to remove the single-channel stock stick).

When Dell offered me a replacement system with some less-than equal components, I was successful at reminding them of their internal policy requiring them to offer "same or better" for ALL system components, and told them I was willing to wait for such a system to become available. It took several more weeks (in my case, some of the same or better components were not offered in the 7550, but were offered in the announced but not yet released 7560), but eventually Dell shipped me a replacement that actually met the same or better policy.

EDIT: I see I was responding to an older post, and that you have since gotten your requested specs. Congrats!

Got a new Dell Precision 7760 with the i9 cpu and windows 10 pro today. One strange thing is that under the Start Menu - Settings -> Network & Internet, Data usage is reporting about 10% of actual data usage. Is anyone else seeing this on this model?

I tried reset usage statistics under data usage, and still when I download a 600 MB file in google chrome browser, then waited 15 minutes, and look, it says chrome used 7 MB of data.

I even tried resetting windows which took about an hour and running through the windows setup and still I'm getting the same oddly low data usage reported on this new machine.

This windows 10 feature seems to work fairly accurately on my other dell precision, xps, etc. On another dell I did the testmy.net 100MB download test and it went from 30.06 to 30.16 GB of usage. On this machine, I did the 100 MB testmy.net download test (manual size selection of 100MB) and windows 10 reported 2 MB of data use. Tried both edge and chrome web browsers and both reported oddly low on the new precision 7760.

Scratching my head on this one. Minor, but it bugs me when something doesn't work as expected before I begin the real setup.

    Any ideas?

No, you just have to unplug and remove the keyboard. The whole process can be done in less than ten minutes. The service manual details the steps for removing/replacing all components.

Removing the keyboard and getting to the RAM slots was easier than I expected. Removing the ribbon cable for the keyboard and the backlight was the hardest part.
