I updated my 7550 to 1.8 bios and my cpu was stuck at 0.9Ghz after most re-boots which made the computer behave sluggishly. Unplugging and plugging back the power cable from the computer was a quick restore to full cpu speed. But I decided to downgrade to 1.7 and it was fine after that.

I have successfully used this method to get back s3 sleep. The problem is that I have not figured out a way to wake up the computer using an external mouse/keyboard. Only the power button works with s3, which is not very convenient in a closed-lid setup.
Has anyone been able to solve this?
The bottom of my 'sleeping' 7550 is occasionally hot enough to be uncomfortable to touch. I think it is related to my usb headset. It is less of an issue when it is not connected. s3 would be an easy solution if only I could wake it up with the mouse.

Dell's solution here would be to pick up one of their USB-C or Thunderbolt docks, which can be used with the lid shut and also have a power button that can power on or wake the system.

Thanks. That's good to know. I guess I would only look for docks with a power button?

All Dell docks should have one. (It's a little round black button on the top that doesn't really indicate that it's a power button...) I don't know about third-party docks.

For those who might want to upgrade their 7550 GPU, it looks like 7560 and 7760 have a similar form factor for the GPU, main difference is heatsink hole, coil placement and only two DGFF connector instead of three, given theses information, a 7560/7760 GPU should fit a 7550 if the right heatsink is used (we don't know if such heatsink does exist for now).
Comparison between the RTX A4000/A5000 from the 7x60 and the RTX 5000 from the 7550.

Green dot is for heatsink screw while red dot is for chassis screw or finger, they are placed according to the GA104 RTX A4000/A5000 of the 7x60 service manual.

What else should I buy for the rtx5000 upgrade? heatsink for rtx5000, do you need to buy anything else?

You will need the dGPU card, DGFF data connectors (...two, I think, because there should already be one in your system), DGFF power cable, and a new heatsink (iGPU systems don't come with a heatsink that covers the dGPU).

    Hello gentlemen,

I just recently bought a 7750 with egpu and am looking to put in either a RTX 3000 or 5000. Can you gentlemen lead me to the right path to look for parts in Ebay. I am having a problem identifying part number for the 3 dgff connectors used in the 7750. Are they the same as the ones found in 7740 or 7730?
