Nah, no VM’s. It hasn’t worked since it came out of the box last August. I think it could be an issue with a) some software, b) the motherboard, or c) the video card. I’ve checked every aspect of the software I can but I just wanted to make sure it’s not something really stupid I’m missing.

    Hello,
I am having charging problems with my Dell precision 7550. Sometimes I pug the charger and the battery stays at 8% ... forever. Current is beeing drawn since the laptop is not switching down. But it's not charging (or at least ubuntu tells me it is not).
This is annoying when you want to charge it to 100% before a trip ...
Anyone experienced something similar ? Are there bios / performance settings to change ? Or is it a hardware problem (PSU or computer) ?

It is most likely the way that Modern Standby functions. It "really" never goes to full sleep like in the old days but just goes into a low power mode and any movement from the mouse wakes the system up from Modern Standby mode. You might want to look at enabling hibernation on your system to go into a very low power mode.

I think when I dug into this before I was able to see events in Windows Event Viewer which showed what was causing it to wake up?
Still, if you tell the system to "sleep", it should stay asleep and not just wake back up after a few seconds... (even if the power usage is higher than hibernate)

Aaron, thank you very much! Using event viewer I was able to figure out the problem. When I checked it said keyboard input. So at first I thought it was an issue with the on board keyboard, which I don’t even know what would have to be done to fix. But then I realized maybe it was my MX Keys. So I turned them off and wouldn’t you know it...it went into and stayed in sleep. Now my issue is that I keep my laptop in clamshell mode all the time so it is a pain in the ass to pull it out of the vertical setting and put a password in. However then I thought wait a second, usb allows wake but Bluetooth doesn’t. So if I hook it up via Bluetooth (which I hate for the mouse due to lag) and keep my mouse on usb then I can wake the system with the mouse and then use the keyboard to unlock.

It worked! Also the reason why I didn’t catch it before was before the little usb stick stayed in so that explains why it was happening when I thought everything was disconnected. I just didn’t think of it.

I don’t know if I have a defective keyboard (much rather have that than any system components) or if mx keys just isn’t as well suited as my Kraft (which I love) but in either event, Aaron you are the man, thank you for guiding me in the right direction.

I was literally speaking to person after person at Dell who didn’t think to do that. And nvidia really through me a curveball with that usb c policy controller.

    case closed.

I'm working in Windows 10 and the F5 key cycles keyboard backlight between off-low-high.

    Hi,

Guys, I've received my 7750 today.
I've installed mew RAM and SSD (4X32GB Crucial Ballistix and SX8200PRO 2TB).
    I'm seeing quite worrying behavior.
    I performed BIOS reset.
    1. BIOS can see both RAM and drive
    2. I was trying to go through Win10 config, but it freezes on WiFi setup, so I was forced to power cycle it.
    3. Now it doesn't even display Dell logo when powered, I can't enter BIOS.
    4. I've tried to reset BIOS again. It wouldn't help.

Remove the new RAM and reinstall the stock RAM configuration.

Indeed, first thing you should do is restore it to factory configuration and then you will know if it is the system or your upgrades that are causing the problem.

The light code that you are getting is for invalid memory modules.
