    Dock update:
After the replacement dock had the same issue (monitors do not wake up properly), Dell now wants to replace my mainboard. I rejected and requested a replacement system. We will see...
Replacement dock had already the newest firmware installed while it was not released on Dell download page. Furthermore today I got a complete dock fail. Led on USB-C connector stays off,
no power delivery, nothing. I disconnected everything and after some retries system is now stable again. Maybe it is the result of a total power loss this night within our city. I miss my e-dock !

Thunderbolt 3 Type - Trying to determine via the thread but unable to or may have missed it. Are there issues with the Thunderbolt 3 Type port where it does not work or fails to work consistently? I was thinking of using it to store and run VMs for a lab as my understanding a speed increase via this port. Lastly, anyone have any benchmarks using this port such as CrystalDiskMark or similar to share? Thanks.

So is EVERYONE having the USB hickup (needing to disable C-states) and Thunderbolt power adapter issues or is this intermittent and happening to specific adapter and/or specific single laptops that may have HW issues?

If these issues are not being experienced by everyone then I may roll the dice and go the 7730 route and spend the extra $$ for a more future-proof system.

We have three TB18DC docks in the office and only mine seems to be having the power delivery issue. (Actually can't be sure if it is something with the dock or with my system.) All three have the USB stuttering issue (solvable with C state toggle). There have been reports of other users who do not suffer from the USB stuttering. Still a bit disappointing considering that the ePort dock had pretty much zero issues.

I haven't had any issues beyond those, display output and Ethernet/audio seem solid.

    Hmm . . .
Well, for my mouse I use a small USB BT dongle that stays permanently attached to my M6700 and I suppose I would do the same with a 7730, which I think would avoid the stuttering because it will bypass the dock. My wireless audio that would be attached to the dock and might have issues though.

One would think that Dell would have caught this stuff before the HW went out the door, but I guess not.
Big Dell sale this weekend . . .

It can't be an issue with all USB devices, it seems to affect input devices (keyboard and mouse). I don't really get it. The audio in the dock is USB-attached (internally) and I've streamed a number of videos with no stuttering of any sort on the audio.

There was a similar kerfuffle when the TB15 docks launched with the Precision 5510/7510/7710... It was eventually solved (mostly) but it required replacing all of the docks that had been shipped out with TB16 docks...

What way could we verify that the thunderbolt controller in the laptop is working correctly? The WD-15 dock I borrowed from a coworker works fine, but AFAIK it's just USB-C and not thunderbolt.

Which model external HDD enclosure/cradle are you folks using to do local backups of your 7530/7730? I ask because on my 7710 with ePort dock I connect to a Vantec Nexstar hdd toaster cradle (NST-D300SU3) via eSATA. It's great but I'm thinking if I went with new 7730 I could continue using the Vantec cradle but via USB3 instead of eSATA. It's been my experience though that eSATA is consistently faster than USB3 for backups. Is there a better USB-C 3.1 or TB3 toaster type HDD/SSD cradle? thanks!

Edit: started looking around. Saw a few USB-C 3.1 SSD/HDD cradles for about $40 USD. Something like this I think would work well if I didn't have eSATA cradle for backups. I'm happy the prices for these cradles have dropped in the last year or two. Many more to select from also.
