Precision 7530 & Precision 7730 owner's thread

I think you will be fine.

The caddy and interposer are only used for a 2.5" drive, and only with the small battery option for the 7730

 

i thought that too, but Post #789 makes me doubt a bit

 

If you ordered with m.2 only you have all you need to put up to 4 m.2 into your 7730.

 

Anyone know if a 7730 keyboard works in 7720 or 7710 precision?

I'm still planning on trying a 7730 keyboard in my 7710 when they begin showing up for sale online (not seen one yet), but if anyone who has both could try it so i don't waste a purchase. Thanks!

I haven't tried (don't have my 7510 anymore) but I can tell you would also have to be able to swap in the keyboard trim/plastic. There is a change around the Enter and backslash keys, I think it is so that any language version of the keyboard can be installed and they can use the same trim for all of them. (Some European keyboards have vertical Enter keys... Someone posted a picture of one earlier in the thread and it looks similar to this but with the key positions transposed.)

I guess you could just break off the plastic between these two keys to get the same effect...

 

The caddy is only required if you want to mount it to M.2 'slot 4', next to the battery. If you didn't order a hard drive in your system, your system will come with that caddy installed. The other M.2 slots (3, 5 and 6) have mounting holes available in the chassis; no extra parts required (except for the M.2 drive, of course). Refer to the service manual for guidelines.

 

I really wonder what's the purpose of this enter key shape, Lenovo does it with some of their consumer models too.

 

It's so that they can have a keyboard with a vertical Enter key without having to produce a separate plastic bezel thing. For a European keyboard like this.

(I've seen a photo of a 7530 or 7730 with the vertical Enter key but I cannot find it...)

 

7730 was delivered today and additional ssd installed without any problems or required parts, thx for the helpful answers,

 

So its upgrade time at the office, and I'm putting my Precision 5510 out to pasture, and considering getting the 7530, with the following specs:

Intel Core i7-8750H
32GB non-ECC memory
512GB NVMe PCIe primary drive
1TB NVMe PCIe secondary drive (for data and VM's)
Non-touch screen

Are the docking stations still an issue? I ended up just plugging power, monitor, and ethernet directly in to the 5510 because I got tired of docks dying on me, or randomly the USB ports stopped working. I also like the fact that the 7530 comes with a trackpoint, which I much prefer using in Windows over just the trackpad.
